Red cross error message and syncing errors

My fitbit versa is starting to glitch so not sure if it's hardware or software. I have been having syncing issues regularly and have continued to reinstall the app (Samsung phone) and reset the watch and after a couple hours it may sync. Last night I was having the same issue so followed all online steps and now my watch has a red cross and error message - data not cleared. Sync and try again.  I've followed all online steps and still cannot get the error message off my watch. Ahhh I'm so frustrated. Would love some help please.
