Just got brand new versa in periwinkle (really pretty) for my bday...do I need a screen protector? Does this screen scratch easily? This is a much larger screen than I’m used to, afraid I will bump it. If you do have a protector on, what kind was it easy to apply and where did you get it from? Thanks!!

Yes!!! I purchased the versa last week and realized I needed a screen protector. I wore it while I waited for the protector to arrive. And I have a faint scratch on the screen. The screen protector only covers the face not the rounded edges. But they also make like a rubber case. I got preotectors on Amazon.

Does the protectors work with the charger or do I have to take it off once a week?

It works fine with the charger. It's just a clear glass like protector.

I got a protector from Amazon and managed to install it myself after one fail. There are videos on YouTube to assist you. I think it is a good investment, as I notice I do tend to bang the device around a bit when I am busy or moving quickly It is made of glass and sits on the screen only, does not interfere with charging or any of the functions (just in case they happen to be randomly working that day :-))

For those on the fence...
This happened this morning:
And here is the protector peeled off:

either this was posted based on very old info or the person answering just may not have known of the recent changes. the Fitbit Versa 2 uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3. which makes it nearly impossible to scratch. pretty much any watch or phone that uses Gorilla Glass 3 should never need a screen protector. if it gives you peace of mind then by all means spend the money. (i put one on my Gear 3, Galaxy S8 and i'll probably buy one for my FitBit Versa 2 also. yes, i'm a hypocrite.)

I use a screen protector on my Versa. I banged it so hard once, that I shattered the protector. I picked up the one I have over on Amazon for like $10 for 3 or 4 of them. I have to change mine again b/c I banged it yet again & cracked the protector. I think they're worth it.

The first day I got my Versa 2, I proceeded to bang it against a subway turnstile and scuffed the side.
I got a bunch of these and love them. They come in clear, charcoal/grey, black, rose gold. Personally I like the charcoal the best. A few dollars each, super easy to take on and off when charging.

see thats full body protection. im referring to screen protectors. the gorilla glass 3 thats on the watch is more scratch resistant than the actual screen protector. plus those covers are awful. imo. i bought a multicolor pack myself. they make the watch look cheap. you have to stretch them to put them on and take them off. cant charge the watch with them on so off an on every charge. doubt theyll hold their shape forever.

For anyone stating that the screen is made out of gorilla whatever glass and it’s impossible to scratch—that is a negative. I’ve had my Versa 2 since last Monday. No screen protector. It’s already scratched.
So, yes, it does and will scratch. Now unless the screen is able to “self-heal” like some screen protectors claim they can do, well. Yeah lol. Seeing the scratch on my screen is bugging the crap out of me because I know it’s there and see it when I angle the watch. Though anyone else glancing at the watch wouldn’t notice it. Sigh.

If gorilla Glass gets scratched up on a phone, it sure would on a wearable. It's just physics& chemistry. If you touch anything that has sand or stone particles on it, it'll get scratched (good luck for resting on the beach after a run for example).
