I have a few issues with the screen
1. Turning the wrist does not always wake it, i usually resort to pressing a button. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity?
2. Touching the screen does not always wake it. I usually have to press a button
3. Notifications do not wake it. As the above dont work i have to press the button - can this be a setting to wake please...
4. The clock face cant stay on all the time, it would be great to add an option to auto dim it and remain on. I know other ffaces are available but they suck, this bring me to my next point
5. Its really hard to find a clock face that is always on without installing it - this should be more visible in the app store (sorry i know not technically related to screen)

Further experimentation (I got out a protractor 🐵 seems to indicate, at least on my watch/wrist, I need to rotate my wrist through at least 70 degrees of motion (with respect to the axis through my wrist and elbow, and with this axis held within about 30 degrees of parallel to the ground), and I need to finish within about 30 degrees of the watch face being horizontal (with respect to the ground), in order for it to reliably show.
Cranking my wrist upside down (so the watch face is facing down and parallel with the ground), and twisting up 70 degrees (or even 140 or so degrees) won't show the watch face - it has to get close to horizontal. (Interestingly, holding my wrist at 90 degrees - with the face perpendicular to the ground - if I twist my wrist outward, so the face ends up facing downward, within 30 degrees of parallel to the ground (ie, wrist cranked upside down), also shows the face.
Arm hanging down parallel to my legs/body, I can twist my forearm/wrist to the limits, and the watch face won't appear - it seems to have to rotate through a close to horizontal axis, to within about 30 degrees of level for the watch to show.
This still kinda sucks, but at least I better understand the movement that seems to be required. (Don't get me wrong, I like the Versa - its heart rate, sleep, activity, etc tracking seems quite good, and the multi-day battery life is great (though it died on me on a bike ride today - I had it in 'Always On' mode for the ride). I also like the lightweight feel (its lighter than my regular watch), and the silicon band is actually really comfortable, and the little band keeper ROCKS!). This whole thing about having to gyrate the wrist within a very rigid set of constraints, with no user adjustability, definitely sucks, though.

"and the little band keeper ROCKS!"
Right!! They deserve some kind of innovation award for that!
But, even with that, they need to work on an acceleration based trigger for the wake function. Thanks for all the info on the orientation changes required to trigger the wake.

Well said. I feel like Wonder Woman blocking bullets to see the time.

My issue is that my screen wakes up when I am rolling over in the middle of the night. I have yet to find a way (or a clock face that is dim enough) to avoid waking myself or my husband up. 🙂

good to know, i get varying results. The official reply I got from fitbit support said to move my wrist 90 degrees each time. I do that but it still doesnt always work. They haven't responded with alternate options yet

For my clarification is @MarcoGFitbit saying that when you get a call or notifications the screen remains black and it only vibrates? Coz I’m lost. It’s annoying when my wrist is vibrating from a call and I go to look at it and I can’t even see who’s calling. Just doesnt make any sense. Isn’t that the point of having notifications on your versa watch?
@NellyG is usually good with info. Would you know if the versa watch screen is meant to remain black when receiving a call or notifications. Is it only meant to vibrate or is therer a simple setting that could rectify this?

@lexi83 Yes i think that is what @MarcoFitbit is saying. I dont have a Versa, but I have an Ionic which works the same. Tje screen doesnt light up when tje message comes in but as I have my screen wake on auto when I lift my wrist the display comes on and I can see the notification. Does that not happen with yours? If my screen came on with the vitbation I often wouldnt look at it immediately anyway so the lighting up would be wasted, so I assume that is why it is set as it is. It works for me anyway.

@NellyG Yes when I get a call or a say a message it vibrates but the Screen remains dark. The frustrating thing then is that I look at my watch can’t see the notifications,on the versa you rotate your wrist 90 degree to wake the screen and still it takes me about 4-6 times before it actually works. Sometimes I try tapping the screen that takes a while too It just doesn’t seem smooth. I was thinking about turning off the auto screen wake, as I’m not so sure it works very well.
Thank you for giving insight I’ve seen a lot of your comments and they are always clear and helpful.
I think the the best way is to maybe try putting forward a suggestion as feature you can either have switched off (as it is now) or switch on so when your watch receives notifications or a call it lights up for so many seconds so you can see the notifications/call. That way you users could set their notifications alert to their personal preference.
I’ve done a suggestion page so If You’d like your screen to wake up when you receive a notification/ call click here to vote

@lexi83 As I said, with my Ionic, the screen wake works really well, but I understand your frustration if it doesnt work well. It did take me a while to get used to the auto wake. I find starting with the screen horizontal and moving it crisply to vertical (but not a flick or a snap) works most times. When it doesnt work it is usually because I havent started at horizontal. Practice it and see if you can get the screen wake working better. I realise the Versa may be different in this feature from the Ionic, but my Alta HR was the same - I had to learn how to do it.
(and thankyou for the kind words ☺)

@NellyG That’s ok. 😊
I always do a smooth rotating never a sharp movement but it’s more inconsistent than not. I’ve had my versa for a few weeks now and I’ve been trying to give it time and myself time to get use to it but I’m still just finding it frustrating.
Its good to here that it works well on the ionic.
ive just put a feature suggestion forward. One that allows users to keep it as is or light up upon receiving notifications. That way it’s the best of both worlds for those who like it the way it is.
Thanx again

Ended up returning my Versa. It's inconsistencies in the way it operated just were too frustrating. Will stick with my Alta and wear one of my watches.

Could it have been accidentally disabled? If you press and hold the left button for a couple of seconds you go to the quick settings where you can turn "screen wake" to auto or manual ( you may need to swipe left / right to see that setting)

Regarding point 1. In the fitbit app on your phone there is a option Quick view. This should be turned on. If turned off, your fitbit will not wake when you turn your wrist.
You can find it in
Account/versa and then below the middle of the page, just above WiFi settings. Turn the button on, wait till your versa has synced and your screen will wake when you turn your wrist.

My Quick View setting was on. I Clicked on the WiFi setting and synced my Versa watch. Now the watch wakes up when I turned my rest. I will test the wake up feature again tomorrow.

This was my fix. Mine was turned off. The app on my Android had been crashing a lot so I deleted cache and data once or twice. Quickview must have turned off.

Has your issue solved? I met the same as point 2. My Versa cannot wake until with big tap force. Sometime even tap on the shell and band (not on the screen) can awake the watch. I don't know if it's an intentional design or it's a quality problem?...
