Short sleep log

From the binning my watch has never kept track of all of my sleep in a given night.  Typically it will record the first segment but when i wake up, perhaps to go the bathroom, or just be wakeful for a time, it will not register the rest of the night.  For example, last night it said I had about 2 1/2 hours of sleep although I probably had almost 8 in a total of three pieces.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @phylothomas. I am sorry for the delayed response.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing that your watch is not tracking your sleep accurately. Thank you for providing the additional details. Autodetection is based on your movement and I recommend doing the following:

  1. Please confirm that your sleep settings are normal and not sensitive: What is the difference between the normal and sensitive sleep setting in the Fitbit app?
  1. Restart your device by following the steps from this help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  1. Try sleeping with the watch on your non-dominant hand if you haven't been doing it already.
  1. Confirm that the watch is snug on your wrist (the HR lights shouldn't be visible)

It is possible to correct the sleep record by following the steps from this help article: How do I edit, or delete sleep logs in the Fitbit app?

You can find more information about tracking sleep here

I'll be around if you need further assistance.
