Step count is inaccurate on my Versa

I left my fitbit versa on charge and then went out to do errands. Came back, checked the fitbit and it showed over 22,000 steps after having sat in charger. This is unsatisfactory performance. Does anyone else have an experience similar to this problem? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

@Oldsalt66 Tap on the Settings app (little gear cog icon) on your Versa, then scroll down to About. Tap it to open. Your Versa firmware version will be listen on top. For now, you can try rebooting your tracker several times by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until Fitbit logo flashes. If the issue persists, you might have to perform a factory reset in order to upgrade the firmware. In the meantime, you can delete these ghost steps by manually logging activity called Driving for the time period in which Versa recorded ghost steps. You can add Driving activity in the Fitbit mobile app or on Dashboard on Fitbit.com.

@Oldsalt66 can you please confirm your Versa firmware version. There have been some reports here for older firmware versions. I believe this has been resolved with the update.

Firstly, thank you for your quick reply. Secondly, how do I determine the
version of my firmware. I understand what “firmware” is however I have no
idea the version. Thank you. R// William

Thank you for your reply and recommendations. I located the Firmware
version that I have and it is up to date. I also noticed that sleeping
overnight with the device on my wrist and a full charge, the device
automatically fixed itself back to 0 steps and then began counting steps
when I awoke. Looks like my issue resolved itself. With your suggestion and
the self-reset of the device i have been saved from spending money on an
Apple Smartwatch. I do use Apple products and I was tempted, however I will
stick with my Versa! It is indeed a good product. Gym time
tomorrow...thanks again!
