Steps are deleted from Versa 2

My Versa 2 records the steps accurately and then it goes backwards. Example:
I walked 6 miles in 100 minutes, which would approximate 13800 steps. Since I had walked before. I had taken about 1500 steps prior to my walk, thus my count showed under 15000 steps. After I showered (removing my Versa 2) the step count is now 11767. This is a terrible product, unreliable at best!

Hi @IssyRoz, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for the details that were shared in your post. Seems odd that your device is randomly under-counting your steps. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? Is this affecting your step count only or other stats like floors, distance, heart rate, etc. as well? In the meantime I receive your answers, please restart your Versa 2 and let me know if the issue persists.

Looking forward to your reply.

It has been doing this for over a month, and does it regularly. Since I walk or jog with my phone I can track the steps and distance with multiple apps. The Versa 2 récords it accurately but then the steps go back, I.e., from 11000 initially recorded, to 8000 steps after a few minutes.

i have restarted the device, but this continues to occur.

Just noticed this issue with my Versa.  In the last hour my steps were not registering on the Fitbit. I restarted twice.  Steps and cals and heart were registering on and off.  Then I thought it was fixed and I synced.  Then my steps on the device went backwards.  Not sure how many steps were lost today. Only had the FitBit for a week and a half.  Gonna check other apps and do a comparison, but not always carrying my phone.

Welcome aboard @FitLadyat49 and thanks for your reply @IssyRoz.

@IssyRoz I appreciate the details that were shared with me. To move on, can you please clarify if the steps are being deleted on the device itself or from your account after you sync? Are you using a third-party app that's sharing information with the Fitbit app? Which phone are you using? @IssyRoz Can you please answer the same questions? This way I'll be able to identify the issue. I'll be waiting for your reply.

Don't hesitate to ask me any additional questions.

Thank you for the warm welcome.  Just wish this issue goes away.
I gave the FitBit a full charge, no change. Re-started a few more times. No change.  Once it took steps away, then gave them back then stopped counting again.  Sadly, the stats are not reliable.

Ricardo, I use a Galaxy S20 Ultra with Strava, Nike Run Club and Samsung Health along with the Fitbit App. The step count mentioned is from my own Versa 2 tracker. It will correctly record the steps, i.e., 11500 steps, then after a few hours it would show 9500 or something like that. I have restarted the device many times. This has been going on daily for about 2+ months!

I've had similar issues.  About two weeks ago, my step count went from over 13,000 to just over 5,000.  When I checked both my Versa 2 and my iPhone 12, I found that everything from 6:00 am to 11:30 am was gone - my Exercise/Activity report that listed my zone minutes, everything.  This had happened a couple of times before, but if I rebooted both the Versa 2 and my iPhone, the information came back.  This time - nothing.  Then it happened again this last week, but this time I lost all my data from noon on.  Since it was 11:30 at night, that took a big cut out of my total steps, miles, zone minutes, etc.  I went from over 19,200 steps to 5,556.  I've also encountered another weird anomaly with the sleep registry.  On Tuesday, 1/5/2021, it showed me sleeping from 8:15 pm to 9:24 pm, while my wife and I were watching a movie and talking the whole time.  On Sunday, it showed me sleeping from 6:24 pm to 10:28 pm, part of which time I was feeding horses, eating, and again watching TV with my wife.  When I went back and checked, I found it had done the same thing every day almost every day from 12/21 forward, I just hadn't noticed it.  I'm just wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem.
