Steps counting while not wearing the Versa.

Bought my Versa last week. Today I took a break from wearing it, kept it on the bathroom counter ALL DAY and never touched it. Somehow I magically go 10,000 steps? Again, I haven't touched it today. Any word on an update to fix this bug?

I've had steps added during periods of time I'm driving or sitting and will fix it by putting driving in as exercise. Other times if I'm sitting it will randomly say I was outdoor biking. Lots of glitches with mine!

Mine logged over 30000 steps on the charger last night. Along with the other annoying issues I am pretty much done with Fitbit.

I just bought my Versa on Saturday. This morning I woke up to 49 steps already just by it laying on my dresser. Now, blow dying my hair and making coffee I have done 200 steps. Reading the previous comments and seeing in my own experience that the issue has not been fixed, I am going to have to take it back. Sucks. But I bought it for the step counter and heart rate monitor. I need something accurate. This isn't.

This happened to me last night.  One possibility is that it was next to my Samsung cradle charger with the phone being charged.  I plan to test it again later today.

I'm having this with my Ionic.  It's sitting on the charger with nothing moving near it, and I'm watching as it continues syncing with my phone, adding 50 or so steps each time.  I have no issues when I'm wearing it, hit everytime I take it off, my steps go crazy...  No fixes or  suggestions yet?

Really fitbit a fan???!!!!!! So you're saying that you're fancy watch wont count steps while pushing a cart threw the store because it only counts "active" steps but leaving it on the dresser next to a fan is the reason why my watch has extra steps???? Wow  This is why I tell everyone that will listen how horrible of customer service your company is.

I logged a "Driving" activity during the time my FitBit Versa counted over 14,000 steps when I wasn't wearing it.  It did NOT negate the steps.  Instead, it gave me credit for exercising! 😞

I have just travelled sitting on a bus  for 4 hours and registered approximately 250 steps per hour on my New Versa purchased yesterday Thursday December 27th, and even counts steps when swinging my arm.

My Garmin Vivosmart hr was very accurate, feeling a little disappointed.

I’ve had my standard edition versa for about a month and it has been adding steps when not being worn the whole time. Today it was on the charger most of the day because I forgot to grab it before I left. I took it off the charger around 4:30 and it had logged 2100 calories, 3400 steps, and 1.6 miles. Really? Not happy at all.

Same issue with mine, except my Versa won’t even count the steps I take while wearing it! Hasn’t for days! I’ve done everything I could to try and fix it: rebooting, re/disconnecting via Bluetooth, updates, delete app and reinstall. NOTHING. Woke up a few min ago and see notifications on my phone saying I’ve reached my 10k goal today! The fit bit is sitting on my counter in the kitchen. Checked my app, says I put in over 20k steps yesterday after I went to sleep.

The Challenge part of my app doesn’t update either. The workweek hustle challenges I do with my friends make it seem as though I don’t get any more than 8 steps per day!

Mine is counting steps while I'm driving, so to avoid this I take the Versa off. It still counts steps and floors, though not as many. I thought the point of the bliky LEDs was to monitor heartbeat and therefore the device can tell when it's in use? I've read through this forum and the one on the Versa recording steps/floors while driving and frankly I am disappointed in FitBit's responses so far. This is clearly a problem many people are having.

Yes, I have restarted my FitBit Versa, on many occasions, and it still has the same problem. No, I am not going to download a separate app to tell my device when I'm driving. Taking it off should be sufficient.

Same problem here. Since Fitbit replaces my watch already ( face came unglued after 8 months) they will not help me any further. They only warranty their replacement for 30 days. Terrible! My steps would count by 5’s. I had over 48,000 steps in one day. This happened at the same time that my HR monitor quit. All while on the charger while I slept!  My next watch may be an Apple!
