Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Taffysparkles.
Thank you for the information provided.
I would recommend restarting your Fitbit Versa 2 by following these instructions.
Your watch could track extra steps for different reasons. I would recommend visiting this article and open the menu "Why does my Fitbit device count extra steps?".
The dominant wrist setting decreases the sensitivity of step counting and should reduce any over counting of steps when your body is not moving. Your dominant hand is the one you use for writing and eating. You can find this setting in the online Dashboard at fitbit.com > Settings > Devices > Versa 2 > Wrist.
For instructions on how to negate the extra steps, please visit this article and open the menu "How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?".
If you have any question, please let us know.
