Swim tracking problems

While I swim, I can track my lengths.  However, I am not able to get out of the swim page on my Versa and the data will not sync with my phone.

Hello @Laboj.

Thanks for bringing this up! Let me help you figure out what is going on.

I will be moving this thread to the Versa board as I think it is better suited for it.

I'd like to recommend that you try restarting your Versa before you swim. That should guarantee that it will work as intended.

In the meantime I'd like to ask you to provide more details on what is going on. Please by as specific as possible. Does the Fitbit get stuck and will not respond at all or what is it exactly that happens?

Look forward to your reply.

Hi, thanks for your note.  I restarted it last night but I won't be able to test the swimming part until tomorrow  when I swim next.  The swimming page worked once, I was able to exit easily, and it logged my swim as exercise that one time, on March 7.  Since that time, the swim page has not worked well.  When i get in the pool,i go to the swim page, turn it on and swim.  It tracks my lengths, total distance and time as I programmed it to do, while I am swimming.  However, when I am done swimming, I cannon log off that page/ quit it.  It does not show up that I swam on my exercise list.  Now, since I restarted it late last night , I checked the exercise log again and it shows that I swam yesterday, but not the other days since Mar 7.  The time of day is off, the number of minutes is way off, and the distance  is way off.Hope this helps.JeannepSent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Hello @Laboj.

Thanks for bringing this up and trying the restart.

In this case I'd like to ask if the situation has improved since the restart or if it has continued.

In the meantime I'd like to ask you to share some screenshots of the information that you mentioned is showing on the exercise page. It could be that after the restart starts being more accurate.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

My Versa died yesterday and I am getting a replacement.   The Versa was only 4 months old.  Hopefully,   this next one will be better. Jeanne Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

My new Versa is still working and initially tracked my swimming.  Hiever, I swam 3 different days this week.  My Versa tracked the activity, but did not track it as exercise nor swimming. I have restarted the Versa three times but neither ever shows up.  I also checked my settings and everything seems like it should work, but it doesn't.   I am very frustrated.   Suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem with my Versa when I swim laps. I can start it, and the laps seem to be logging, but I cannot stop the tracking. When I finally get it to stop by pressing back button and bottom right button, the laps do not show up on my log on the app. I am on my second Versa. Both devices did this.

Welcome to the Forums @SDJamie. Hello @Laboj.

Thanks for sharing those details and letting me know that you are both on your second Versa.

@Laboj Are you referring to tracking automatically? In that case maybe you could try to manually start the swim tracking to make sure that it is properly tracked.

Do keep in mind that the strokes that you practice can factor into the automatic tracking. Are you switching strokes as you swim or are you being consistent in that regard.

@SDJamie, how is it not letting you stop the tracking? Could you go a bit more in-depth in to that? Could you share more details on that? I'd like to take a closer look.

Let me know if there are any other questions.

Hi.  Thanks for your reply.  I swam 48 lengths of freestyle and 29 breaststroke.   I have it on automatically recording.  I found that when I started the swimming in the exercise unit, it  recorded in the exercise section, but that did not transfer to the activity or counted as a day of exercise either.  I bought the Versa for swimming and tracking my overall exercise so am frustrated.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Hello @Laboj.

Thank you very much for that quick reply and for sharing those details on the situation.

In that case, I'd like to recommend that you restart you Fitbit right before going to swim. That should help so that it has an easier time tracking the swims.

Keep me posted on how it goes with restarts.

Okay, I will try that, but if I have to do this each time, Fitbit needs to fix something.   Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

I go to the manual tracking screen, hit the arrow to begin tracking swimming and begin swimming laps...front crawl only. When I am done and attempt to hit the pause button (which should bring up the little racing flag and then the opportunity to end the session) it will not pause. I try repeatedly to hit the pause icon to stop the tracking and nothing happens.

I have had the same problem with pausing or stopping the swim exercise.  Plus, it does not record it to to dashboard as either activity nor exercise for the day.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Hello @Laboj and @SDJamie.

Thanks for that clarification both of you!

@SDJamie and @Laboj, could you both try to do a restart before going to swim and running the activity manually like this again? I'd like to know if the restart allows the activity to be paused. In addition to that, if it won't pause, try slightly drying your finger to make sure that it is not water on your finger that could be preventing the screen from recognizing touch.

Please keep me posted on how it goes or if there are any other questions.

Hi.  Just remember to push the button and not the screen.  I was making this mistake after migrating from the BLAZE.

Hello @Laboj and @Anointedrj.

@Anointedrj Thanks for jumping in to help!

@Laboj They are referring to pressing the button on the side of the Fitbit that corresponds to the pause button. If you press the button that is next to the pause button it will pause the activity too.

Let me know if there are any other questions.

Hello @Laboj.

Thanks you quick reply.

That would be correct! I worded it that way because it applies to other buttons that might show up on the screen.

As always, let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
