Tracking Heartrate Will Excercising

I just got the Versa; replacing the HR. I thought something was wrong with my HR the past two years of using it. Anytime I was on a cardio machine... treadmill, bike, EFX it wouldn't show the correct heartrate.  I do HIIT, so I get my heart rate up to 171-174, then cool down to about 145-150. I do this for 20 minutes However,  my Fitbit never shows those numbers.  Today using my Versa during my cardio, I did the same HIIT, yet my numbers don't reflect that workout. The average heart rate is 111. It says 22 minutes fat burn, 1 minute cardio, and 6 minutes peak. I have the band snug, and I've tried different placement on my wrist. So obviously I'm doing something wrong. Any input?

HIIT with rapidly changing heart rates is the toughest challenge for optical heart rate measurement, even when you are doing everything right.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
