I really hope there is a solution to this pedometer misreading issue. I drive a truck for work and I just logged about 800 steps in the last 45 minutes while I was driving. I searched and saw posts from years ago where people get pointed to 3rd party apps that no longer exist. I need a solution to disabling the pedometer while I'm driving. I'm not sure why there isn't an intuitive app that checks gps data for your speed and if it's over 25mph it auto disables. If there are Fitbit employed that review these posts I have a few more days to hear back and get some solution before I can't return the device (versa lite) anymore. Possibly I missed something but from the posts I've seen your app developers simply don't care about this issue. Please prove me wrong about this. I love this watch and don't want to give it up because your developers don't care to fix what appears to be an extremely common complaint.

Hi @SunsetRunner,
Yes, I believe you are correct--there used to be an app called DriveBit, but that appears to have fallen by the wayside. I don't know of any auto-detection, though it would be nice.
The official procedure is to create a driving activity that negates the steps. You can read about it here (it's not automatic though).

I do see where I can change logged activities to driving however I don't see where I can get driving as a setting on my versa lite. The only options I find have presets that don't contain driving. If you can tell me how to do that then Ill be more then happy.
To note , when I was driving earlier it didn't log it as an activity and just logged steps into the pedometer. Is the solution then to track all the time I am driving during the day then manually entering all those times as driving in the app? I really hope there's a way to add driving as an activity directly on my Fitbit. If not then this isn't what I would consider a "solution"... More of an unnecessary work around. I'll be cool with starting driving as an activity but this baby's getting returned if I have to manually track my driving and log it at the end of the day to get an accurate reading.

Wow... That's pretty rediculous. I appreciate you responding. I truly don't understand how from what I've seen this has been an issue for years and Fitbit hasn't found a solution. Anyone have any insight on that end? I don't know if you work for Fitbit or are just being awesomely helpfully but do you know if there have been any official responses as to why there isn't an intuitive on device solution to this? It isn't a big deal if you don't get back to me because I'm returning the device but I'm intrigued as to why this is even an issue.

I'm just a community member like you, pitching in to help other Fitbit owners.
The closes I've heard to a response is from this suggestion. I would say add your vote there so Fitbit knows how much interest there is in this proposal. The status is under review, so there's still hope. 🙂

Cool. Thanks for your help. If I find out this gets fixed I may be back but I guess I'll find a different sport tracking smartwatch. This really sucks because I love this thing and it sucks I have to return it.
