Unable to change clock face on Versa

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have been trying to use the saved clock face /switching feature since yesterday and it hangs up with no obvious way to get out of it.

It switches to the other watch face on the watch, yet each time I go into the app and check, it asks if I want to "continue installing" because some apps didn't finish installing.   Both the old face and the new face show "selected".   The only options are "continue installing" or "later" -- no "abort".

I've tried the usual clear cache /clear storage / restart both devices a half dozen times, but it won't let me try a new face until this process completes, it seems.

I think I just figured out how to get past this -- by saying "later" and selecting a different clockface that is already on the device.

I'm trying this again and it seems slow and very clunky.

Anyone else having this trouble?

The same is happening to me but I am unable to change the clock at all... Not even by using later... I don't like the new clock I downloaded at all and this is really bothering me.

Hi @lance.lascari, it's great to see you here. @Chelseastur, welcome to the forums. I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for sharing that you're having issues to change and save your clock faces, as well for the steps tried prior posting. I understand how you're feeling about this situation since this isn't expected and let's work on this together. First of all, make sure the Fitbit app is updated to the latest version on your phone and try the following steps:

  1. Remove the Versa from the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app

For iOS, check this article .

    For Android, check this article.
  3. Reboot your phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app, tap on your profile's icon > Versa > Sync now.
  5. Once it syncs try changing or saving your clock faces.

If the issues persist, please provide me with your phone's model, as well the name of the clock face that you're trying to use or save. Also, please take a screenshot of any error message displayed and attach it in your reply as that will help me to investigate further.

I was happy with the clock face switcher the first few days.

But now I've also experienced a similar scenario to Lance.

The app clock face switcher and the watch Clocks app seem to have serialization errors.

At multiple points in use over the past few days, I installed different clock faces up to the total of 5.

During this time, I ended up with more faces on the watch then in the app.

Since there's no on watch resident controls to remove a clock face, I have to install the clock face again so I can "Remove clock face".

So I  start the install of the clock face, the watch vibrates and the clock face is installed and displayed on the watch face but the fitbit app endlessly indicates "Switching" and the red progress indicator goes from left to right endlessly. Also responding "Later"  to the app is not honored and the install continues.

Restarting the watch, reinstalling the Fitbit app does not resolve this issue.

I finally got out of this loop this last instance (since I had two clock faces on the watch) by :

          1) Force stop the Fitbit app

          2) On watch, select the clock face other than the one I'm now trying to install

          3) Start the install of the clock face that's on the watch but not installed in the Fitbit app switcher

          4) This time the fitbit app recognizes that the clock face is installed and does not loop

              "Switching"

         5)  From the Fitbit app "Remove clock face". The clock face is removed from the Fitbit app and

              watch.

         6) Fitbit app clock face switcher and watch now in synch with the same one clock face

I actually started this cleanup when the watch had 5 clock faces installed and the Fitbit app had 2 of the 5 listed.

At this point I'm about to travel so I'll only use one clock face until the New Year. I'll check back then to see if there's been more comments and/or a code fix resolution.

Watch : Versa 2 35.70.714

App:  Fitbit 3.12 for Android  (maybe I had better luck at 3.11 and 3.12 broke it)

As addendum, I just installed 12/18 3.12.1. Play Store comments just say the boilerplate "Bug fixes and performance improvements". Dunno if a known issue with the clock face switcher was fixed. Still will return to this 2020 since the workaround is time-consuming. Have a great holiday season!

Hi @LizzyFitbit , I noticed a very different problem after the update to 70.1.14. I installed a Third Party Clock Face, which I already use since I bought the Versa 1 without any problems and also not problems with it in the "foregoing" Firmware Version. Downloading and installing, allowing permissions, etc no problem at all. But after having made changes to the settings of the CF and when finished, press "ready", I see all the changes back on my home display, BUT, when I slide the home screen to go to the settings/weather, etc, and go back to the home display it shows the default CF without my altered settings done and saved by me. It does that everytime, seems that Fitbit (I have the latest version) does not store the altered settings in whatever way. Anyway, pretty annoying and never had that before with the same CF. Already contacted the developer about this problem also.

BTW, it does the same with all other downloaded CF's, so IMHO it's really a bug in the new version. Hope Fitbit can fix that soon. regards kuzibri
