Howdy all. I've had my Versa for a little over a week. Zero issues until this Firmware Update was available. I've been reading here for help along the way but I've gotten stuck again. Here's what I've done:
1) uninstall/reinstall fitbit app (I'm an android user, so I cleared cache and data before the reinstall.)
2) successfully connected my Versa to my WiFi (this took several attempts as the app wouldn't bring up any WiFi networks -- even mine.)
3) I yelled at my Versa telling it to stop being a jerk. This was of no use, but I felt slightly better.
I am terrified to do a factory reset of the Versa: I'm extremely attached to my data for reasons and don't want to lose anything. Can someone tell me exactly what I will lose and/or keep in this action? (Past data on app perhaps?)
When I attempt to download the update, I get to the screen telling me there are things I should expect from the update, I poke "next" and then I hit the proverbial wall as the app just keeps searching for my device.
I wonder if perhaps my app is trying to do everything in Bluetooth. How can I make sure it's connecting using WiFi?
Thank you for any and all help!

Hello @FitBun, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.
I appreciate you have brought this to my attention and for letting me know the troubleshooting steps you've already tried. If your Versa is still having trouble updating the firmware and as it's able to connect through WiFi, please try the following:
If the update fails, restart your mobile device and try to update again. If you your Versa can't update over WiFi follow the on-screen instructions in the Fitbit app to update your watch over Bluetooth instead. Note that firmware updates over Bluetooth may take significantly longer to complete. If the Versa is having trouble updating through Bluetooth try the following:
Now, when it comes to perform a Factory Reset, you will only lose the apps that you have installed in the Versa, your custom settings and the data for that specific day, which is why I would like to suggest you to sync your Versa before attempting the Factory Reset. Additionally, please keep in mind that when your Versa updates via Bluetooth you will need to select it as an option when you receive a pop-up saying the Versa is unable to update through WiFi or when WiFi is not available. If you don't get a pop-up, that means your Versa connected through WiFi and is updating using WiFi.
I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

I have wasted hours trying to update to the latest firmware and none of the suggestions worked. I only see the fitbit logo while attempting to update and once have seen a checkmark before the update ultimately fails. My current firmware version is 32.32.4.19. Is my Versa defective?

Did you try unpairing your Versa from your Android phone? I mean, from the settings section, in bluetooth, I unpaired Versa/did 'Forget this device'. And then when I set it up all over again after restarting both phone and Versa, everything got linked and synced fine.
See if this works for you.

Unfortunately, that did not work for me, however after multiple attempts, more reading on the forums and more help articles...I finally found the SOLUTION. Apparently Fitbit does not work with 5GHz routers, so I switched to 2.4GHz and it still hung up. Mixed in the other troubleshooting techniques after switching to an IPhone hotspot and it finally downloaded the update within about 10 minutes. It then said that it failed again, but since the download had already completed, the update began installing anyway. Hope other Android users have access to IPhone hotspots to get their updates.

I'm over it. I've tried every troubleshooting tool for four days and I'm still unable to use my new Versa. Can't wait to return it.

Just purchased my Versa yesterday. I was so elated after the rave reviews from people I follow on IG. For the cost of the device we shouldn't have to go through so many loops to get it to work properly. I've tried countless of trouble shooting for this thing since I bought it and have yet to use it because the update takes FOREVER!! I just simply can not anchor past this! I've rebooted, restart, uninstalled/re-installed, allowed it to fully charge, used both my data/wifi, turn the thing/phone off/on, resynced, placed the my phone and it side by side, kept it on the charger/and off even factory set my phone, walked away from it from boredom of checking its progress.. before I'm asked I cant factory set it because I cant get pass the logo to update...NOTHING worked! Still takes forever to update all I see is the logo and the slow progress bar that is really going nowhere! Despite all the hype I was so anxiously ready to use this for my workouts...I can not wait to refund it tomorrow, it's too much of a hassle!

Long journey to get the Versa alive.

Just received mine yesterday and it syncs up then says needs the update to use it. Go to update and after a few minutes the fitbit goes back to "download the fitbit app to get started" after 3 hours I had had enough. Taking it back for a refund today. Sad thing is, this was a Christmas gift from my husband😞

I was very excited when I bought my Versa last Spring. I remained patient through the frustration of getting it to link to my phone and for the app to work properly. I assumed it is what happens when something is new. Since then things have been great. Then, suddenly, I was no longer syncing... it was because there was a firmware update. I cannot sync without doing the update. Now, I have been trying to do the update for days. Twice, I have managed to have it actually begin. The first time it stopped after about 3 minutes. The second time, over wifi, it was still updating after 4 hours and suddenly failed. I have been unable to get it to connect since. I have tried all of the suggestions. I now have a very expensive piece of costume jewelry without the bling. I am so angry and disappointed with this situation, that I don't think I will ever buy another item from fitbit again. I'm considering different ways to destroy the darned thing in order to get some kind of satisfaction from it all.

For future updates please give us another option such as a direct wired connection. I have adapterseen to do this, but even that doesn't seem to allow the update to work correctly .it looks like it is going to work and then something interrupts the update again. Still trying to update. And I will keep trying. I love my fitbit.

I can’t update my versa following any of the suggestions using WiFi,2.4, or Bluetooth. Sometimes the watch shows a big green check mark but it will not turn on and the iPhone says the update failed.....very frustrated.
I, cycled the phone and rest the watch several times each after updating the phone software all with the same result.
i,m so disappointed in this versa, my hr charge worked perfectly it just fell apart. Well, it looks like a trip to Costco is coming up very soon!

I've been trying to get my Fitbit Versa to update for over two months now. It just won't work. I've tried all of the recommendations (enable/disable bluetooth, turn off/on wifi, restart the fitbit, restart your phone, forget from bluetooth settings, uninstalled and reinstalled the app) and just within the last two days, my versa started having spasm like jolts between times and the screen hasn't been waking up when you move it (yes it's enabled to do that) or when you press the button.
I have had this since they first came out and am so frustrated with trying to fix it, that I'm considering giving up fitbit all together and going with something else. So disappointing, considering I even bought the scale!
