My original versa will be dying soon.. i can see the signs..
So.. now that the Versa 2 is coming out soon.. i have questions.
is the hardware in the versa 2 same as versa 1..
sensors for sleep tracking
Sensors for stair climbing
Sensors for GPS connect
Are you using a better quality screen on the versa 2 from original versa??
have you solved the battery dying problems
and last question.. My whole house is setup with Google Home... so.. if you are going to add Google support.. i would think of buying it.
not really smart to shut out more then half of users of smart devices.

Hi @SunsetRunner, as far as I know, the only Smart Service it has is Alexa, which is owned by Amazon. I have both Alexa and Google Home, so if you decide to get Versa 2, they can co-exist. Alexa is free to set up.
As for the other questions, as far as I know, all the other features that the Versa currently has is also available on Versa 2, and Versa 2 has an addition that I am super excited about...Spotify!
I don't know about the screen quality or battery issues, but I did read somewhere that the Versa 2 will have a 5 day battery life. We shall see.
As far as I know, all the hardware is the same.

@DramaQueenDiva Spotify was a selling point even for me until it came up there's no Spotify support but just remote control for the mobile app (no downloading playlists to the watch and listening offline).

The Versa 2 has an OLED screen, so much better than the 1 and it also has a faster processor that should make navigation snappier and some subtle hardware design changes that should make it more comfortable to wear all day. I've been one of the lucky ones and have had a great experience with the Versa 1. I'm a swimmer so I've taken it to the pool at least 3 days a week for a year. I'm a bit worried about some of the water resistance issues others have had, but I'll probably upgrade.

Now with the announced purchase by Google, there might be a change in 2020. Google might want the Assistant installed instead of Alexa.

As you state "Fitbit may go up in quality" it may also go down. Google home had it over Alexa when they first game out because of the shear volume it's google assistant library had over Alexa. But what I am noticing now is Alexa is becoming integrated with a menagerie of devices while Google has not! I recently read an article how things that Google buys have a way of turning to crap! Hope this is untrue because I have spent mucho $$ getting my house smart with Google Home!!

Well, for me, that versa only works with Alexa and not Google Home Assistant is a deal breaker!
I have a Versa Lite and I like it and would love to update to the V2.
But if I can't use my GH Assistant functionality, then no way I'd fork out that kind of $$$ for the Versa 2.
I refuse to get anything Alexa!
Come on FitBit! Add Google Home Assistant functionality! It's nothing more than a software addition.
Then you open up the door to a lot more customers.
It's kind of a DUH moment right there.

I agree, Dooky.
My whole home system is build around Google Home.
There's on other thing, that probably is not a big deal for most people, but for us here, this is a
BIG DEAL!
That is, the voice. Alexa has only the one FEMALE voice!
In our home, we prefer a MALE voice. With Google Home and our 4 units, we have a Male voice.
Also, our controllers are all Google Home related.
We're not about to switch.
In my life experience, I've learned that if 1 person feels a certain way, there are thousands of others who feel the same.
So if the FitBit executives have any intelligence, they'd consider adding an option to CHOOSE if the person wants Alexa or Google Home.
It's nothing more than software to do this.
I hope that the FitBit executives figure this out and get this addition introduced.
It's the smart thing to do and investors would see the benefits.

It would be tempting if V2 had Google Home as an option and if it doesn't suffer from the
no-syncing
issue that the Versa Lite suffers from.
