Apparently fitbit have "resolved" this, but I still have the issue.
As described here:
Everything is up to date, always is, still have bogus water readings.
Come on Fitbit, how long to fix this one, years now for a conversion where a conversion is not needed!

I have similar problem. I log 750ml through my watch and a few hours later I see 22,180.1ml. It's really annoying especially after days or weeks as the graph is unreadable after that because my correct logs ( about 1500-2000ml daily) are teeny-tiny on it but this 22,180.1ml is reach the sky. Sooo I have to find that false one and I have to undo it.
I constantly update my phone and my Fitbit app everything is always up-to-date but I have this problem since I have the watch June 2020. It's ridiculous now!

what I think the Fitbit does is it thinks you continue drinking after logging it in and increases the number over a certain time period

nah, it's quite obvious.
It's a conversion thing.
We use litres, fitbit just assumes everything is entered in ounces, then converts.
500ml becomes 500oz, and then gets converted to ml's 14,786. Not just recorded as the 500mls it is.
It's bloody ridiculous.
YEARS it's been going on. Hire some decent programmers.

WHY is this still an issue? As of January 2023 I am still having this error! If I log 500mL of water it appears on the app as 14786.76mL (which, as other users have pointed out, is equal to 500fl.oz). Why does the app think I have logged my water intake in fl.oz?? People have been complaining about this error since at least 2019! Ridiculous.

Don't think fitbit care for us metric users. I've almost given up hope, and I'm a software engineer, I know this should be easy
