Versa 2 calorie tracking when working out issue.

Hi, so I bought a Versa 2 literally 2 days ago and I'm not sure of its accuracy when it comes to calorie tracking. It's so annoying that is shows your BMR too. I would like an option to hide it so it's easier for us to see what we burn from specific workouts. The watch itself is so expensive and I think it does not live up to its name or price.

Anyways, that's not why I'm here. Yesterday I walked 2,33km, 49 min and did 3202 steps. I started the ''walking'' workout myself and made sure it was placed correctly. At the end, it said I had burned 413 calories, which is impossible. Someone told me that amount contains my bmr too, so I wanted to ask: does it? and if it does, how do I calculate the exact calories burned by walking and only walking?

Also please I would like to ask to fix the BMR thing. It's not only me who's asking and I've seen people asking for that from years ago. I thought it had an option to turn it off. If this isn't fixed before my warranty ends, I'm going to return the watch. Thank you.

Of course the tracker includes all callouses burnt durring the exercise.

Your BMR is what is burnt when doing nothing more then laying down.

I know what the BMR is, and I know it's included and I would like to have the option to turn it off. My problem isn't that, though. What I'm asking is if in the 413 calories it says I'm burning, it's counting the BMR too and, if it is, how do I calculate the calories burned only by walking.

You are correct in your understanding that BMR is included. You have two options to figure out your BMR:

  1. Google "BMR Calculator"
  2. Take about 30 seconds and see what FitBit says your BMR is

For the second method:

You can determine your BMR by looking at the Web Dashboard calories in the Activity and Stat panel. Hover your mouse over a point in the graph where the graph elements are at the lowest during a sleep period.

Multiply the calorie burn for that individual 15 minute period by 4 to get an average BMR per hour, or, of course, divide by 15 to get your average BMR per minute.

In my case, my BMR is 68 calories per hour or 1,632 per day. This happens to match the value from a BMR calculator on the web for an individual of my age/height/weight.

So, using my 68 calories per hour, my 419 calories reported for my treadmill session yesterday are reduced to 351 calories that are "exercise related".

I hope this helps and welcome to the boards.
