Versa 2 deleting steps after sync

This has happened to me about 5 times in the last couple of months, I do a large amount of steps (eg 34,000) and sync my watch to the app which shows those steps. Then a couple of hours later I sync my Fitbit to my app again and suddenly there are approx 10,000 less steps, so 24,000. This has happened multiple times and I’ve tried switching my Fitbit on/off after it happens. I also called customer services and they didn’t help the problem at all.
