I'm on my 7th Fitbit, 3,x Alta, 3,x Charge 3 and now a Versa 2. All of them have failed to track sleep properly and nothing has changed with the Versa 2, despite having the new software, a fanfare of trumpets and "Now with Alexa & enhanced sleep tracking".
It is probably for 2 years now that users have been complaining about sleep tracking, across all devices, and offering to assist the dev teams with identifying and fixing the problems, and still no response and still it doesn't get fixed.

Hi @SunsetRunner. Welcome back to the Community Forums and I'm sorry for the delayed response.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about your Fitbit devices and the sleep tracking feature. I'm sorry that you've gone through this experience. Our team often reviews the forums to improve on our products and their performance based on the feedback shared by our members. Your comments won't go unnoticed and they'll help us to work on the sleep tracking feature.
If your Versa 2 is still not tracking your sleep, since your post didn't mention please check this help article which describes the possible conditions that affect the way your sleep stages are generated. Then, restart your Versa 2 as described here, wear it snug on your other wrist and sync your data once you're awake to check your details.
I'll be around.
