Versa 2 —- gone??

It has just stopped after 2.5 years. Lucky I didn’t renew premium which expired in May. Otherwise there would be blackmail to buy another. Think it’s because I went for a swim but don’t know. I went previous day with no issue. There are mentions of putting in rice tried that but no reaction/budge. Looks a dead duck. I used it to monitor stuff daily/ weekly and has served as intro to such devices. Must look for a device that will last minimum 5 years and I can budget for service for. Are there any Fitbit offerings to meet that type objective?

Hi @philip.spill - if you have had in rice for a week you can try charging again and make sure it doesn't get hot but even if it starts it may run down the battery quickly.

A new Versa 2 you don't swim with should last.

Thanks for your response- appreciated. I agree - now for the bin. Will
replace/ won’t swim with a gadget again. Confused on what’s the best to
replace but no rush or panic.

Did you happen to knock it hard on anything that may have cracked a seal? I've had my Versa 2 for a couple years and swim with it regularly (track swims for exercise, as well as near daily visits to the hot tub). The Versa 2 should be fine in water up to 50 meters unless something happened to compromise the unit.

Otherwise, it probably wasn't the swim and rice won't achieve anything. Maybe the device just died, and that just sucks from Fitbit, and I'll be waiting for mine to do the same by year-end...

Hi @canoorani - please note that wearing a watch in the hot tub is not recommended as it can break the seal.

The seals are of varying quality, some work and others just fail.

@philip.spill - still try via the Fitbit App, click profile photo, Help & support, Contact Customer support, just in case your watch has another issue.

@Guy_ Good point and always appreciate insights, but this one is off the mark a bit and needs to be set straight. This watch is advertised as "Water resistant up to 50M, so you can wear your tracker or smartwatch in the shower, pool, and beyond."

Notably, for the hot tub specifically, the user manual states that the Versa 2 operating temperature is a range from 14 to 113 degrees F (less than any hot tub I've ever been in, which do not usually get above 104. And, in all reality, the pressure at nearly 50 meters is far more harsh on a seal than 100-104 degrees F.

Good thought, but I'll claim false advertising if my watch ever stops working because of the hot tub after reading the promised specs in the user manual. Had those advertised specs not existed, I may have bought a different watch.

@canoorani  - thanks, you mention operating temperature, which is slightly different to seal endurance.

You might get incorrect readings or it might stop working outside operating temperatures. If inside operating temperature it should give correct readings.

As Fitbit advise against immersing in hot water or detergents it would be good to heed the advice to avoid the risk of premature seal breakdown.

Thank you all for answers. I believe the issue did relate to water- went for a 20 minute dip in the ocean in Portugal. Generally whatever water resistance that applies to the product is not reliable to last very long. I am put off replacing with like as I dislike being given unreliable presentation in selling it. It lasted less than 3 years- I had come to enjoy / use / benefit from the daily info etc but I hate being made a fool of and am not willing- at least immediately- to just fork out more for a new device
