Versa 2 is not tracking my data accurately

I have a Versa 2 that I’ve had for about a year and a half. Gradually, I’ve noticed that that it’s just wrong about things. While I appreciate all the credit for the massive amount of stair climbing it says I do, well, it’s wrong. Sometimes I notice my step count goes up while I’m driving, and since I tend to sleep in stages, it only counts maybe half of my sleep time properly. So, I’m curious if this is just FitBit’s way of encouraging to upgrade, or if there is some way to rectify these sloppy stats.

Hi there, @dheera52. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've been experiencing with your Versa 2. I understand where your concern is coming from.

Regarding your floors and steps going up while driving, please keep in mind the algorithm is designed to look for intensity and motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking and running. When working at a desk, cooking, or performing other activities with arm movements, a device on your wrist may add some steps.

However, I'd suggest confirming the following are correct in the Fitbit app:

Since we use height to estimate your walking and running stride lengths, you may want to measure and manually adjust these values if your legs are longer or shorter than average. For more information,  please see How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

As for the floors, please note Fitbit devices has an altimeter which is a sensor that calculates altitude based on atmospheric pressure to track your floors. However, it may give you credit for extra floors while doing everyday tasks such as opening doors, driving, AC, or riding elevators or escalators, or from abrupt weather and atmospheric pressure changes. Exposure to excess moisture can also result in extra floors.

Know that you can negate the extra steps and floors in the Fitbit app. For more information, see How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?

Regarding the sleep stages, is your heart rate working properly? In order for your Versa 2 to track sleep stages, your heart rate should be working precisely. For more information, see Why don't I see sleep stages today?

Hope this helps!

My question has to do with the GPS. Either it is not working properly or there is something wrong with my Versa 2.

I walk almost every day. In today's walk I was credited for  0.24 miles more than I actually (approx 420 yds) and credited with a speed 16.33 minutes per mile - a speed I have not accomplished in several years. My speed is normally somewhere between 17.5 and 18 minutes. What isd going on?
