Good evening

My Fitbit Versa 2 has stopped tracking my sleep, do you have any ideas why?

Welcome to the forums @sharonhirsh.

Thanks for sharing the details regarding your Versar 2.

Before considering other options, please keep in mind that there are some factors that may prevent your tracker from recording your sleep. Please make sure of the following:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device as described in this help article.
  • If you slept for less than 1 hour for sleep patterns or less than 3 hours for sleep stages.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

If you haven't done so already, please try to complete a restart.

In addition, please wear your device on your non-dominant hand and monitor it for the next few days. In the meantime, for the nights that don't have sleep data, you can manually log your sleep by going to the Fitbit app, tapping on the "+" icon next to the sleep tile > Add Sleep Log and entering your details.

If the green light isn't working on the back of your watch, it won't track your sleep.   It is a common Versa defect with mine lasting about a year before it goes out.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your response.

I no longer have the green light on my watch.

Please can you advise how I can rectify this please?

Kind Regards
Sharon

Mine stopped tracking sleep as well two nights ago. Plus I no longer get the readiness score, resting heart rate or zone minutes either.
Green light is not working on mine which I checked after reading the comments.
I’m not confident to do an update or restart as this has caused all my other Fitbit devices to malfunction, even blow up in the past. I’ve had this one for 3 years now so know it’s at the end of its life for a Fitbit but not having these functions work is one of the main reasons I wear it. Super frustrating not to have a valid answer from the moderator. Don’t tell me how to wear it. It’s NOT working!! I haven’t changed anything wearing it to bed etc. IT IS NOT WORKING!!

If the green light has stopped working on the back, what can we do? Apparently this is the reason for the device stopping tracking sleep. My Versa 2 has stopped tracking sleep, readiness score, zone minutes, and resting heart rate. I’ve had it for 3 years and have done nothing differently in wearing it so please don’t give me the canned advice about wearing the device.
Is this problem fixable or not?

I am having the same problem which started this morning. At first it was not syncing. I fixed a pairing issue and removed my previous iPhone from the device list. Did two restarts on the watch. Green light comes on. The app on my phone is not showing sleep tracking, heart rate, and a couple of other things. They disappeared. Why, I don’t have a clue. I have powered the phone down a few times. Nothing is helping to fix the problem. I am also a long time Fitbit user and was having no problems until I tried to sync the watch today.
Now there are two of us in the dark!  Maybe someone has an answer.
i will be buying different product if this watch is finished. 🤷‍:female_sign:

I went on a chat with Fitbit and they told me to update my device. I was reticent as every time I’ve done that in the past, it’s stopped functioning etc. Anyway I updated my versa 2 app and nothing has changed. No green light on back still, no zone minutes, no resting heart rate, no readiness score and I’m betting no sleep score. In my call I asked multiple times about the green light and was ignored.
from other comments this is the only way all of these details will get tracked. So updating the app has nothing to do with it. I still have no green light. But I’m gonna get back in the chat tomorrow!! Even though I have far more important things on my agenda.
but this is the THIRD Fitbit for me to crash. So I’m pissed.

Mine is tracking sleep, but not getting a score. I've restarted, factory reset, uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my phone to no avail. I wear it on my non-dominant hand, and have always. Score stopped a couple of weeks ago.

I just got off with support. They suggested setting Sleep Sensitivity to high. On the Android app, this is under app settings. I'll let you know if this works or not.

Mine was synced to an iPhone, not android. The watch, a Versa 2, still has a green light and is tracking what is on the face of it—time, date, steps, heart rate, notifications, and maybe calories (? Whatever the flame signifies) The app is not working and I have tried a few things with no luck. Everything I have read says that a Fitbit life span is 2 to 3 years. Mine is 3 years old almost to the day when these things started to go awry. So I suppose the end is near. Right now the watch serves the purpose of being a time piece and I can see it in the dark, as well step counting and heart rate. I have given up on the app and any apps connected to it. I was fairly basic in what I used—sleep tracking, steps, alarm, timer, weather, and time. I will use it til it dies completely. I did love this Versa 2 and am sad to lose it, but…I can’t afford one of these every 3 years in my retirement so I suppose I will have to resort to a basic watch. Sorry for the long sad story and not being able to help. :-))

Mine didn't either, last night, and tracked my hours of sleep worse. I'll give it a couple of days and post results (although I can guess what they will be).

------

After a couple of days, no sleep score, and hours of sleep not accurate. Going back to normal setting, but will be getting a new one (or something else).

Hi! Well I was going to wait a bit as my watch was tracking everything without the app which I had deleted in looking for a solution. Then I noticed the time was wrong! Reloading the app did not fix the time or bring back the missing features. I have faced the fact that my 3 years is up with this watch unfortunately, ! ordered a Versa 4 yesterday! 🙄 I checked out Apple watches, but the charging every day was a real negative for me despite the high ratings. I also just need the basics, not all the other things the Apple watches provide. So I know that I will have to replace the next watch in 3 or less years and there is not much I can do about it. At that point, I’ll be too old to give a rip and will buy a good old Timex if they still exist! 😂 You will probably end up doing something similar!
