Hi there, @Mamooch. Welcome to the Community Forums.

As @JohnnyRow has mentioned, the value that you see on your Versa 2 is your estimated calorie burn for the day so far. So, there's no way to start your day in zero when it comes to calories burned.

We estimate your calorie burn based on your age, gender, height and weight. You burning calories even when you are sleeping or just sedentary. When you are not wearing your Fitbit then it is estimate your passive calories burned. That is what you see on the Fitbit app after the set up.

It then populates your profile with this calorie burn back for six months or so to give you a sensible baseline against which to compare your future calorie burn once your watch starts tracking your exercise and adding exercise calories to your BMR calories. What you're seeing is an expected behavior and the calorie counts re individualized to you.

For more information, see How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity? and How accurate are Fitbit devices?

Hope that clarifies your inquiry. Have a nice day!

They do start at 0 at midnight.  Then your BMR (basal Metabolic Rate) calories, those that you are always burning just to stay alive, start accumulating.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
