Versa 2 left button stopped working

My left button wouldn't work on my Fitbit Versa 2. I went to settings and hit shutdown to restart it. Now it won't even start back up based on home button not working. This is a time drain as I've read every thread in this.

Hi there, @BJCC. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 2 before reaching out.

If you haven't done so yet, I recommend trying to remove dust or dirt by gently using a toothpick around the button. If this does not improve the button performance, you can try to clear debris using canned air. Hold the tracker at arm's length and spray once to loosen any dirt or dust that may have accumulated around the button. Once you've done that, please restart your Versa 2 once again by following these steps How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Hope that helps.

This doesn't work. I went to shut down my fitbit now and because the left button doesn't work, I cannot even turn it back on now.

My left button also wasn’t working for the past 45 minutes and the sync line in the app was not moving forward. Now the sync line has moved to the end and the button is working again. I think the Fitbit may have been stuck in the sync mode or was doing an update and gave the appearance that the left button wasn’t working.

Sync line or sync mode? What does that mean? How do I get that mode to stop?

Hi there, @Technofem. Welcome on board. I'm glad to hear you're back on business. Thanks for sharing the otucome of your issue.

@tttran12 I think that @Technofem was having a syncing issues and not the issue you're experiencing with your Versa 2's button unresponsive.

This happened to me too.  I did the factory reset, completely restarted by Versa and its still not working.  My husband gave this to me as a gift for xmas 2019 and I'm disappointed that I will more than likely have to replace it.  For the original cost of the unit, one would think you'd get more than two years of usage.

I had this happen too. The battery quit charging short there after and I sent it back on warranty. That has happened twice with 2 Versa 2 devices.

Call customer support. I hope you bought the warranty!

Mine did exactly the same thing. Put it back on the charger. It should restart. It make take a few hours, but eventually it will restart. My left button still won’t work but I can use my watch. I just don’t do anything that would require me to hit the back button. Actually, most functions that I used are still available.

Same issue. My button stopped working. I tried the shutdown and factory reset. Now its been stuck on 'shortcut' page since yesterday. So frustrating. Seems like a common issue, my partner had the same problem recently. My fitbit is just out of warranty, I was offered 35% discount on a new one from fitbit, But they are £150 from fitbit and £79 from amazon, argos and curries.i just want my fitbit up and running again

Thank you!  I thought my fitbit was dead for sure because I shut it down and, since the button no longer works, I couldn’t turn it on. But your Suggestion worked!  Now to save up for a new fitbit as I have had it with this one.

Fitbit support won't help me. They have No helpful suggestions and only offer a 35% discount on a new one.. If they can't come up with a fix, why would anyone want to buy another one??? There should be Something that can be done!!

To everyone with this issue, this is no joke. I was fed up so I set the Versa on its side with the left button facing up and gave the button a light tap with a hammer. To my surprise, the button is working for now.
