Versa 2 not tracking steps

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I activated my Versa 2 today and it is not recording all my steps. I was cooking for about an hour walking all over my kitchen and it says I only took 9 steps. I also spent some time pacing during work, but none of those steps were recorded.

I have restarted the device multiple times. I am wondering if this will fix itself over the next few days. It records the steps if I walk in a straight line, but steps while working are not counted.

Hi @natachan, welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting over here. Let me share with you that your Versa 2 use a 3-axis accelerometer to count your steps. This sensor also allows your device to determine the frequency, duration, intensity, and patterns of your movement. If your device is tracking your steps but not accurately, please check the information that's specified on: How accurate are Fitbit devices? and let me know if the issue persists.

I'll be here if further assistance is needed.

I have reset the device multiple times, made sure to check stride length and which wrist I use it on. It is either not recording at all or vastly undercounting my steps.

at the moment it is 3,000 steps less than what is recorded on my iPhone, which I keep in my pocket.

it is also not waking up when I shake my wrist or tap the screen. I’m beginning to suspect this is a hardware issue. I have an incident number. If this does not resolve in the next day or so I plan to just return it.

Same issue is happening to me as well. I did several soft restarts and 4 factory resets. Nothing has remedied the issue of steps not being tracked and the screen wake not being triggered with motion.
It may be a firmware glitch/bug. I really hope FITBIT isn’t doing this purposely so we are forced to by newer models.

I’m returning mine and going back to my inspire HR for a while. I know that one works.
