I have had my Fitbit Versa 2 for 3 days & it is over counting my steps. I have reset my stride length to make it much longer than it is, I have set it to be on my dominant arm even though I wear it on my dominant arm, I have reset it & shut it down & back on several times.
It also counts steps as I drive! I upgraded from a blaze to this & expect for the price its going to be accurate and effective fitness tracker. It seems to be a common problem, any suggestions please?

Hi @SunsetRunner, welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 2 is over counting steps. I totally understand how you feel about this and I appreciate the time spent trying to get this issue resolved before contacting our forums.
Please try a factory reset. To do so on your device, open the Settings app > About > Factory Reset or Clear User Data. Sync your device before this in order to avoid losing current data. After this, check out this help article, which explains why your Fitbit device may track extra steps.
Finally, monitor your Versa Lite and see if the issue gets fixed.
Keep me posted on the outcome.

Mine has always overcounted my steps. I counts steps when I drive and sometimes even when I wake up in the morning I'll have upwards of 50 steps. I assume it's just the random bumps and vibrations from normal activities that the sensors see as "steps."
I just work around it. You can figure out your baseline amount of steps based on a typical day of activity and then monitor from there. From what I have read no fitness tracker is 100% perfect when it comes to tracking complex activities but you can at least establish your patterns and trends.

Having the same issue but waaay off. I can range from 3500 - 10-11,000 in a day, usually around 7-8000. My highest - ever! - has been when I walked a 10K or have gone to Disneyworld. That's around 24,000. Last week, on a normal day, it logged 98,000 steps, most of that supposedly during my morning walk of about 1 mile. This morning, it did it again. It's showing 15,000 for today. I know I didn't do that many steps. Charging it and syncing it sometimes helps, but this needs to stop. I'd like to know what I'm really doing.

Please see my comment below. Traded my Alta for a Versa Lite about 6 weeks ago. About every other week, it shows some clearly inflated step count. And by clearly inflated, I mean 15,000 today (I average about 7000), and last Thursday, it was 98,000! I don't run marathons.
