I just got a versa 2 and I picked a clock face I like a lot but is there a way to set that clock face as default?

when I lift my arm I see just a digits clock with steps and another icon, to see the clock face I picked and like I have to hit the side button which is annoying.

if there is a way to set this so that it’s what I see anytime I lift my arm I’d like to know

@Mrmom For whatever reason this 3rd party clock reverts to basic mode when Always-on feature is turned on. I am afraid if you want to avoid hitting the back button, you will need to keep it off. You can leave Screen Wake set to Auto (Motion) (in the Settings app on your Versa). This will make Versa light up each time you lift your arm like you wanted to check time. The thing is that one cannot have both features (Always-ON and Screen Wake) enabled at the same time (I believe). Alternatively, you can reach out to the developer of the clockface (using the Contact Developer link on the clockface page in the Fitbit mobile app) asking if anything can be done about that.

@Mrmom What's the name of the clockface you're using. I remember there was one that would only show a fancy watch face for a few seconds then revert back to old plain digits.

It’s called full chrono I like the watch face but I’d like to see it each time I lift my wrist vs seeing the basic digital face.

seems like I should be able to set the versa 2 to display the watch face I picked here Vs putting up the default digital and me having to hit the side button each time I want to see the face I picked.

hoping it’s just something simple I’m not doing right.

@Mrmom I have just installed this clockface to test it. I can confirm that it does not revert back to digital in my case. Can you open Settings app on your Versa, scroll down to Always-On Display and see if this feature is turned ON or OFF?

Yep I have always on chosen and fullchrono is my chosen watch face but when I put my arm down the face switches from fullchrono to this basic digital face with steps and activity below the time (not that fancy fullchrono I picked).

@Mrmom Turn off Always-ON and see if it works then, please.

Weird ok turning auto on to off allowed the fullchrono to stay vs going to the basic digital clock however it goes black after a few seconds resulting in me having to hit that side button again to see the face.

Maybe what I want isn’t an option, I wanted to pick my face (fullchrono) and have it be default what I see always on.

Yeah it’s odd I can’t have the watch face I picked be always on but who knows maybe in future updates they may add digital analog or custom face to always on options.

for now I set always on - off and screen wake to auto and that does work probably saves battery life too going off just wish I could have both maybe someday down the road with an update.

nev the creator had written back to me with the same info basically so at this point it seems like something fitbit would need to do on their end to allow custom faces like his to work as always on without reverting to basic digital or analog face.

Thank you this has been so helpful as I have been getting VERY frustrated with my new Versa 2!

So just to confirm - I can't have my chosen clock face on all the time like a watch? (Mine kept reverting back to the default face as the issue above...)

I can only see my chosen face by putting it on 'auto' motion... Correct?

Seems weird and still a bit annoying!

@LDPhoto Always-ON has to be set to off. I know it's ... weird. Hopefully this gets addressed.

I am having the same problem with the Sundial clock face.  Is this a problem with all clock faces or just third party ones?

This imbedded clock face in the firmware is reason enough to return the item to Amazon.  Plan to post this serious design defect on Amazon as well.  Yuk!

This is a serious design flaw:  a bug, not a feature.  Unless Fitbit is planning a software fix in the very near future, the Versa 2 I got for Christmas is going back to Costco next week.

You have to select a clockface that is also "AOD(always on display) compatible". Not all clock faces are. But within the FitBit app you can filter the available clock faces to AOD compatible.

I agree though, this is a bummer. I too had downloaded a clock face I loved that is not AOD compatible. I had to choose another.

The always on faces are all going to be pared down, greyed out versions of the watch face you like.  This is to save battery.  They are all set this way.  Some may have a few simple colored options for the "always on" face (when your arm is down and you aren't looking at the watch and haven't clicked the button), but they are supposed to be pared down to save battery life.

THANK YOU for this tip!  I have the Triple Gold watch face and have it set to the rose gold option in the app settings, but it keeps reverting to the default yellow gold every time the screen goes off.  I turned off the "always on" option, and whalla!  It now comes on rose gold every time. Too bad, though, because I really liked having the roman numeral always on display.  I'm sure the developer could tweak it to make that possible. I did search him out on Instagram and messaged him about this glitch, but no response yet.

Thanks for the tip.  I found some always-on clock faces that I can use.  Unfortunately, only the clock face stays on.  I'd love to find a clock face where the heart rate is always on.  I understand that they turn off most of the features to save battery, but I'd rather charge my fitbit more often and have the features I want.  I wanted the fitbit mostly for the heart rate monitor and want it available every time I look at the fitbit.  (I don't find Auto mode very reliable.)
