Versa 2 screen died suddenly

I've had a Versa 2 for about 6 months now and apart from some battery draining issues that were ironed out quickly, it's been great until yesterday. I was sitting on the back deck playing with my kids doing literally nothing that would put any stress on the device whatsoever when it buzzed once on my wrist, flashed an error message and then the LCD screen ceased to function, except to show a garbled jumble of lines and some faint illegible text (I tried posting images, but this interface makes it extremely difficult, really something you guys should fix). It still appears to be tracking my steps, heart rate, sleep, etc. but needless to say, having the screen fail on a rather expensive device after only 6 months is disappointing to say the least. I previously had a Fitbit Blaze that died after a couple years (would no longer hold a charge for more than 3-4 hours) and my wife had a Fitbit Charge 2 where the screen cracked and died after a little over a year. In total, 3 of the 4 Fitbit devices my family has purchased have failed within a couple years. I was considering getting an Ace 2 for my son, but given this appalling lack of reliability, I'm very much considering going with another company for fitness trackers in future. Any ideas?

Additional update. The battery on my Fitbit with a non-functioning screen now drains completely from fully charged in about 18 hours. I can't change any of the display settings to help with battery life since nothing is visible on the screen. This is ridiculous.
