Since owning the Versa 2 for 2 weeks, when I'm outside the screen is very dim and unreadable. I have looked at sleep mode/auto dim settings- Max normal and Dim nothing fixes this. Can the auto light adjustment be turned off and I manually control my Versa 2 brightness settings? it really is impacting my experience and use of the smart watch.

@danielttt Have you tried restarting your Versa? Hold down the button on the left for 7+ seconds. See if that fixes it. My screen is easily readable outside and it’s set to normal.

@Heather-S, Thank you for your reply, Yes i have tried this multiple times. I researched possible fixes and so far nothing fixes the Dimness issue while outside. My Wife also has the exact same Versa 2 and hers does not Dim at all when outside. I checked we had the same settings on Auto Brightness/ sleep mode etc and still my Versa 2 is pretty much unreadable when outside. My none technical opinion is- the sensor which dictates the light level is too sensitive and reducing the screen brightness level too much.
Unless anyone from Fitbit Tech team can advise an alternative solution?
Thanks again @Heather-S

Hello,
I'd like to join the conversation because i've got the same problem. My fitbit versa 2 is very dim, while my mom's work flawlessly. I'm thinking this is a hardware problem, actually. It seems the light sensor is bad.
Have you got any news about your watch? Is there a software update that fixes it?
I've been using my cellphone to check the time when I'm outside because the watch on my wrist is bad.

Same issue with my new Versa2. Was fine then all dim/grey today. My settings for brightness do not have an auto feature, just dim bright and normal. It was a gift, must I return?

+1 for this issue - happening to me too. Can’t read the screen in sunlight, tried waiting for the sensor to wake up and brighten the screen - nothing happens. Check it again in 5 mins and viola, the screen is now suddenly bright.
Fitbit, any official stance on this?

Take it out of sleep mode

Appreciate the suggestion, but sleep mode is not on and not the cause of this issue.
I'm into my 4th chat with fitbit now, and have just sent through photos of the issue - even with brightness set to max the display shows like this:
You can see the display is on, it's just incredibly dim. It's as though the brightness detector is doing the opposite of what it's meant to - dimming the screen in bright light.
Hopefully I get the green light from fitbit to return this one soon and get a replacement.

I have the same problem as cmcpha01. The screen is unreadble outside in bright light, and I agree - it seems like the sensor is doing the opposite of what it should be doing, and dimming the screen further.
Auto-dim works fine indoors and in the dark. Just not outdoors. Frustrating.

I just realized this is a 'Versa 2' thread -- I have a 'Versa 1'. It's been working fine for about a year - this problem just popped up recently. Perhaps the last firmware update.

I feel your frustration! After sending through the photos to fitbit they’re replacing my versa 2, so seems to be the best course of action if you have this issue.
