Suddenly, my Versa 2 went from 85% to dead, then to flashing the reset logo on a loop, then dead again. Reading the forums, it seems like this happened to a lot of people this/last month. Did Google build a killswitch into the update, like Apple did a while back? Wondering whether to bother with FitBit after 10 years of their products.

My Versa 4 did the same thing.yesterday. Now they want to offer 35% off, but their site is already giving 25% off. Not sure I’ll buy another for a measly 10%. Especially after punching more than 10 devices for family members and myself over the years. Time to look into other options I think, as these things last about a year now. Very disappointed.

That’s my feeling. They offered me the 35% this morning. If they gave the 35% off the already $50 off, it would be worth the investment. But when you’re needing a new one every 2 years, is it really? BTW- I’ve been using fitbits for 8 years. Every two years, on or around the 2nd anniversary of each purchase, they all failed.
@nathan_eldridge My Versa was fine until last month. Suddenly battery life became terrible & it no longer stays connected to BT. Tried all the usual fixes but none resolved anything.
I’ve never had a problem with battery life on the versa 2 however recently a full charge is literally lasting 2 days at best. Quite frustrating because looking at the new watches the altimeter is missing of the newest model & the versa 4 doesn’t seem any better than the 2/3 which are both now discontinued
Mine did the same..
It's their update and they are doing this on purpose. Difficult to prove but seeing so many people facing the same.issue there is definitely something fishy.
Complain to FTC and your state AG.
Best AnswerCAN, absolutely. Apple did this and apologized/explained in 2017, the capability is absolutely there.
Best Answer@nathan_eldridge No they didn't. They affected PHONES with a PHONE updates. Show me where anyone sabotaged TARGETED WATCHES with PHONE updates. And again, mine still works fine. There would be a lot more than 20 people complaining if Fitbit could and actually did do that.
Best AnswerOkay, I guess I phrased that poorly- yes, a software update can do exactly what happened to my hardware (watch in this case), among many other possible causes. It's not really relevant whether it's a watch or a phone- they are both able to be "sabotaged" with a firmware update, so my question was to try to get a sense of whether it was just me, or happening in significant numbers.
Best AnswerHi, I'm experiencing something similar with my versa 2. It was working fine yesterday and this morning all I can get is the blinking logo. It won't do a factory reset. I switched over to a Google account earlier this month. Not sure it's connected though. However, at the moment my watch is worse than useless!
