Versa 3 - an app is needed to use this device

I have just recently bought a Versa 3 but just got around to setting it up now. I have set it up and connected it to the app, which seems to be working fine (for now) I had the charge 4 previously and had nothing but trouble.. so when set up I have tried to set up the on-wrist call, when trying to connect to Bluetooth all I am getting is "an app is needed for this device" I have the fitbit app and a Samsung S20. I have tried turning Bluetooth off and restarting the phone and also uninstalling and deleting the app but nothing seems to be working, if anyone has any suggestions ?

The settings in my phone are saying paired but I cant use the on-wrist call.. I have also tried to unpair and pair again but no luck!

Check paired devices on your phone, there should be Versa 3 and Versa 3 Control. If not, look in the Versa startup for instructions.

If you are trying to pair the Versa, then yes, the versa will reject the pair and tell you to use the Fitbit app.

Before we setup Versa 3 controls we need to make sure that phone notifications are being sent to the. Watch.

Then let's setup versa 3 controls.

And then what?

I'm not sure what you are asking @CarrieAnnTedesc

Once Versa 3 controls are setup you will be able to answer the call from the wrist.

Finally found out how to pair for on write call but other functions did not work after a day so had to return.. unfortunately will not be buying another fitbit as I don't feel they work the way they are supposed to.

I am also having this issue on my fit bit versa 2 and Samsung s20.   Frustrating and annoying.

Yes @Diannamoore it is very frustrating when we who would like to help have not been told of what is going on.

We do not know exactly what steps where being taken when this message was received.

If like the original poster, you are trying to connect the tracker through your phones Bluetooth. You are seeing a message that you should be seeing. This is not the way to setup a tracker.

All setup must be down through the Fitbit app

Thank you, thank you.  It worked, by going into the settings on othe fitbit versa 3 itself, going to audio/vibrations and scrolling down to controls, it was toggled off, not sure why it does that, but once I turned it on, then I went to my samsung s20 to the bluetooth and pressed the versa 3 controls and they paired (have to confirm the pairing number) Yay!

@TwilahW your talking about Sense 3 controls, while this thread is about the Versa 3 initial setup.
