Versa 3 is adding more steps when I sync it with the Fitbit app

Can anyone help? Recently when I sync my versa 3 watch with the app on my iPhone, the app updates with additional steps. I have synced MyFitnessPal app with my Fitbit so I can track my calories, but I’m wondering if it is then adding the steps that MyFitnessPal counts as well? This only recently started to happen, and these apps have been linked for several months.

Hi @FMurdoch - try with just your watch connected to the Fitbit account (eliminate the phone and other apps) then you can see if it is working correctly.

Hi there, @FMurdoch. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa 3. I understand where your concern is coming from. We're here to help you!

I agree with @Guy_'s recommendation. Besides MyFitnessPal, do you have MobileTrack paired to your account as well? If you do, please note that MobileTrack could be tracking those extra steps. To verify this, please in the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab > then tap Devices. In this section you'll see your Versa 3 and below your phone (in case MobileTrack is indeed connected).

If the above describes your situation, you can remove MobileTrack by tapping on the phone's icon and then select "Remove From Account".

In addition, I'd suggest to confirm that the following are correct in the Fitbit app:

Since we use height to estimate your walking and running stride lengths, you may want to measure and manually adjust these values if your legs are longer or shorter than average. For more information, see How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

I’m having the same problem. Mine is duplicating and the exact same number of steps everyday which is impossible. I chatted with Fitbit and they say they are aware of the issue and will have an update soon. I hope so. This is frustrating
