Versa 3 keeps restarting itself

Hi

I've had a Versa 3 for about 6 months now and 3 times it has undergone what I think is a factory reset. The first 2 times it happened while I had my arms crossed so I assumed I had accidentally pressed the button for 10 seconds (or whatever the factory reset criteria is) - but the most recent time was during the night while it was on my bed side (not being worn) - I woke up and it was asking me to set up the watch via the FitBit app.

It's really annoying when it happens because I have to re-download and re-install the software set up (which normally takes multiple attempts because it fails at least twice every time) and also spend time re-applying all the settings (wallet, clock face, alarms, turning off movement notifications etc.)

When this happens, the FitBit app askes me if I want to "replace" the Versa 3 profile already set up with the 'new' watch it has detected - And I seem to have no option to say "No, don't replace - this is the same watch, please just set it up as it was" - I have to remove the existing profile and set up the watch from scratch.

Is there no way to apply and existing profile to a new watch?? (for example, what if I broke the watch and bought a replacement?) - Am I just missing something?

Secondly, Is there a known reason/fix for random re-setting? like I mentioned the button definitely wasn't pressed the most recent time this happened, it seems to have just glitched.

Thank you,

Hi there, @Skye4020. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 3 before reaching out. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and into consideration.

Regarding your inquiry, please note that selecting "set up as a new device" is the correct way to go. This applies for either a new or the same Fitbit device. Nevertheless, keep in mind that if you're setting up the same watch you won't lose any previous data already synced to your Fitbit account . For more information, see How do I set up a replacement device or add a second device to my account?

As for the Versa 3 restarting itself, I agree the firs two times this happened you might have unintentionally pressed the button on your watch when you bend your wrist. This may happen during activities such as a workout that require you to move your wrist a lot. That being said, to avoid this from happening again, please try wearing your watch higher on your wrist to avoid hitting the button. For tips on how to wear your watch, see How do I wear my Fitbit device?

However, as the last time this happened the Versa 3 was on the night stand table (and it somehow keeps asking you to set it up as a new device), I suggest trying the following:

  • Unpair your Versa 3 from your phone's Bluetooth and also make sure it's no longer connect to your Fitbit app.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Versa 3 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 3.
  • Change the current clock face to a different one.

Hope this helps.
