Versa 3 notifications not working

My fit bit Versa charge 3 isn't giving me notifications when I receive messages etc.  I have a Huawei P20 Pro android phone.  I have been through to chat, but it appears they cannot resolve the issue, just asking me to read an article.  I have tried restarting phone and fit bit, tested message but to no avail.  It is really frustrating as it did work before and now it doesn't.  Please can anyone offer me any help or advice.  Thank you.
