Versa Apple Android different firmware

Does a different firmware get loaded depending on which type of phone is being used to load the initial firmware?

I changed phone from Android to Apple.

The watch was working fine on the Android phone but didn't work on the iPhone.

Checked again by syncing with Android phone and it was working fine but when synced with iPhone againsagain not working.

Only a factory reset and reload of firmware fixed the problem.

I haven't yet checked if it will work when synced with the Android phone.

It's the same firmware regardless of the phone being used.

I've seen this issue before where there was a bluetooth connection between the old phone and the fitbit that blocked connection to the new phone. "Forgetting" the link in the old phone's bluetooth settings resolved the problem

However, in this case, if that was the issue then I'm not sure why a factory reset would fix it.

Are you sure?

I took a brand new watch and set it up on Android - everything worked fine.

Transferred it to another account on an iPhone - did a sync and the user clock face stopped working properly, only the time was working, steps remained at zero. It seems the call via the phone wasn't getting back any results for steps and other values, only the time.

The today app on the watch was working correctly when paired with the iPhone but the clock face wasn't.

Synced it back to the Android account and phone and the clock face was fine.

Bluetooth was off on the other phone so it could be recognised when transferring, so not a bluetooth problem.

The only thing that fixed it was installing the firmware again from the iPhone following a watch factory reset.

Is it possible a brand new watch is not in the same state as a factory reset?

Logically the firmware should be the same, but if it isn't it could explain numerous problems users have reported, for example when watches are passed on to others as gifts.

No, I can't say that I am sure and I am at a loss to explain what you are seeing. Hopefully you'll get some (more useful) responses that might explain what's happening.
