Versa Light - mileage discrepancies

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I realize I do not have GPS in my Versa Light but notice that when walking/running with friends who use their Apple watches my distance is off over .50 miles. My gender and height are set up. Do I have to bring my phone with me on my walks and runs for a more accurate distance. Today I was under almost .75 miles. What's the best way to get an accurate reading? Thanks.

If you a re confident of the distance, adjust your stride length up to get the right distance.

Without GPS, distance = number of steps times stride length.

I don't believe I have an option on my Versa Light to change my stride.

I did. I'm trying to figure out the stride correction.

The easiest way is if you have a known distance course, such as a track.  Run a lap, or more, see what distance Fitbit gives and compare to actual distance and adjust accordingly.  For instance if you know you ran a mile,  but Fitbit says you ran .9 mile, then increase your stride length by multiplying by (1/.9).

If you know you are always shorter than people you run with, and you trust their distances, you could go with trial and error.  Try increasing stride length a bit at a time until you get to same distance as running partners.
