Versa Lite counts steps when typing or driving

My versa lite is definitely over counting steps compared to my previous Alta HR and it thinks typing, sitting on a train, driving or any activity with slight vibration is a aerobic workout or sport - is this a sensitivity setting or a fault?

Hi @SR23. Welcome to the forums. I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for sharing that your Versa Lite is over counting steps, let me help you with this! As you may know your watch has a finely-tuned algorithm that looks for intensity and motion patterns to track your steps. However, your watch may add some steps when performing other activities that involve arm movements, such as working or cooking, to give you credit for those steps. The same will happen on bumpy roads, in a car with a stiff transmission or if it's next to a fan or anything that buzzes or vibrates.

Having said that, I'd recommend to make sure your Versa Lite is updated to the latest version, restart it and wear it snug on your wrist to monitor its behavior for the next days.

I'll be around, let me know how it goes.

I also went from an Alta HR to a Versa Lite and I'm having the same issue- steps being logged while driving and typing, and other non-active activities.  I do not have a stiff transmission and I don't drive on bumpy roads. I don't even make a lot of turns. Based on your reply to the previous post,  just updated my device and restarted it.  I will see how it goes from here.

Hi @Kelliekay. Welcome on board!

Thanks for letting me know that your Versa Lite has the same issues, as well for reviewed the information shared in my post. Since you've tried rebooting your phone, please monitor its behavior on the next days and let me know if your watch continues tracking too many steps.

As a side note, let me suggest to shutdown your Versa Lite whenever you're driving so you'll not get extra steps. You can then turn it back on by holding the buttons to continue tracking your information.

Please keep me updated.
