Fitbit Update: 4/27

Hi, Versa Lite Fam!

Today we're announcing a new firmware: Fitbit OS 4.1.2(version:70.7.27), which addresses and solves the firmware update issue that was identified and reported in this thread. Please update to this new firmware once you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app.

If you attempt this new update and have issues, PLEASE FOLLOW these step by step instructions in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

DO NOT ever attempt a factory reset as a troubleshooting method for Versa Lite. Thank you all for your patience while a fix was put in place.

Fitbit Update: 12/12

Hi Versa Lite users,

If you recently purchased a Versa Lite, or if you recently tried completing a firmware update and had issues our teams are aware of the problem.

We're currently investigating and working on a resolution. Please DO NOT perform a factory reset on the watch as a troubleshooting method.

Instead, try the following:

  • Plug the watch into a computer and attempt the update over Bluetooth. You may need to resume the update if it fails a few times. Note: You must have the watch plugged into a computer to improve the chances of successfully updating.
  • If you have more time available, contact our Customer Support and they can walk you through another method using a Windows 10 computer.

As a side note, if you encounter any issues while updating it, please perform the troubleshooting mentioned in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation while we work hard on a fix.

Thank you for the update.  I just got my Versa 2 on Christmas Day.  I spent several hours trying to update the watch over Wifi, then Bluetooth.  After removing the watch from my Bluetooth settings, and all other devices in my Bluetooth Settings, I was able to connect to the watch, then run the Update via Bluetooth.  It took a very long time to complete, but after almost 3 hours it completed the update.  I hope this help someone. thx

I accidentally hit factory reset on my Fitbit lite and now it won’t turn back on. Help. I literally got this watch 6 hours ago.

See follow the steps below
Since your fitbit is factory reset either the watch would display data not
clear or it would be off
1. Start the watch by pressing the left hand button
2.connect the watch to the labtop of windows 10 where you can find the
fitbit app in microsft store
3. Login to your fitbit device connected account
4. Update the watch as in the option available let the update get complete
and few times watch may even restart don't worry.

See my post above. No issues. My Versa Lite works fine. I just have to ignore the update notice on my phone for now.

Oh okay. Is there a way to tell which firmware mine is using?

Try removing and reinstalling the Versa. Does your WiFi have special characters? I had to connect to my guest network. The password for that I removed the special characters. Update took a couple of minutes. I hope this may help.

Remove the Versa from the app. Reinstall Versa device Connect to WiFi without special character in the password.

I don't know what problem I am having but I get the error message that notifications wont work until I restart my phone. I have done that twice and it didn't help. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app 3 times and it works for about 20 minutes and stops. How can this be fixed? Please do not tell me to contact Customer Service because I tried that and she told me that I must be doing something wrong and she cant help me. Didn't even offer a troubleshooting option or say anything about Fitbit being aware of the issue. It was my fault. This needs to be fixed. I received this as a Christmas Gift from my husband and, at this point after the horrible customer service I received, I will probably ask him to take it back and get something from someone else. This has been a horrible experience.

I spent more than 2 1/2 hours on a live chat. Bottom line: Fitbit's Versa Lite has a known firmware issue. They have no timetable for a fix. I'm returning it. Since they didn't offer me a replacement model without a problem, I will be exploring options with Garmin tomorrow.

Hi there!

I just got my Vera Lite yesterday, and I don’t see an update for mine at all. Is that also a part of the issue?

I’m also not receiving notifications from text messages either.
