I’m on my second Versa Lite. Yesterday it took most of the day to try and update from my phone and then failed multiple times.
the first one did the same thing!
i was literally about to give up then read that some people were successful doing it via windows 10. This seems to have worked for now.
My daughter also got a Versa Lite for Christmas and her app has allowed her to ignore the update message (but mine wouldn’t let me use the app or Fitbit without updating) it’s been very frustrating

Just had my 2nd Versa lite written off - waiting for 3rd to be dispatched. Annoying that the clock faces I have purchased are now useless and have to buy again - working out to be an expensive accessory!

I had the exactly same issue, did the same and my problem was solved only when I updated the was using the its cradle connected to the PC via USB and Windows 10. I now have the version 38.33.1.30 installed on my Versa Lite for the last 2 months and it is working nicely. No problems whatsoever. I won´t do any kind of update, although the app is constantly saying there´s one available.

No @Sjr44 you do not need to purchase again.
Simply go to the link shown on the tracker. Choose the I already purchased. Enter your email and your good to go.
I have one face I like that I purchased for the Ionic and have put it on both the Verses and Versa Lite for no additional fee.

One by one, my apps have stopped working. Now, I tried to restore factory settings. Guess what, now it won’t download the stupid Fitbit operating system. I bought this from QVC back in October. I will be calling to see if they will take it back.
this is a sorry piece of CRAP!!!!
none.....I mean NONE of this troubleshooting works. It’s worthless.

I have an iPhone and iPad. I’ve tried updating with both devices, but neither will work.
I can’t get passed having to download the update. Been trying for five hours.
I guess I can try the very old laptop tomorrow. Thank you for your response.

Do you have a friend or family member with a Windows 10 computer?
Here was my previous post:
Here is what I did, it worked, and it was a LOT faster than before with the phone.
I forced stopped the app on my Android phone.
I set up the Fitbit app on my Win 10 laptop.
I connected the USB charger to the USB port on my laptop.
Got laptop Bluetooth to pair with Versa Lite.
Laptop said USB device "Versa Lite" was also recognized.
Started the update from within the WINDOWS 10 app (not the phone app).
It took just over an hour for the whole update, and it worked! The Versa Lite is set up with the older (pre-November) firmware and I am going to leave it that way until I hear they have fixed this problem.

I have a laptop with Windows. I’ll try it.
overnight, it downloaded the firmware, but it still wants updates. It won’t complete those, and I cannot bypass them.
I am so frustrated.
thank you for trying to help!

My laptop finds the device, but it says it cannot pair with it.
I really don’t know what else to do.

Are you using the Fitbit app on the laptop, or are you in the Bluetooth menu? What version of windows?
You mention laptop, iphone and iPad. You will want to only have one of these devices with their Bluetooth turned on.
Is the Versa Lite still connected to your Fitbit account?

I agree, it’s been two and a half days trying to update this versa lite. If I’d known this I would have invested a bit more and went with the iPhone. I finally had to connect to the computer and start all over again. This seems to have worked.
