My versa lite screen says, 'data not cleared. Sync and try again.' I keep seeing post about resetting the device by holding down the 'buttons' but my device has only one button and I can't get my display to say anything else. Please help.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing the message you receive on your Fitbit Versa Lite. Thank you for your efforts to resolve the issue by doing a restart. These are the steps to restart the Fitbit Versa Lite:
If the issue persists, you can try a factory reset. Please note only that after doing a factory reset, all apps installed and the data that has not been synced yet to Fitbit account will be deleted. In order to do the factory reset, please do the following:
Open the Bluetooth settings on your phone and unpair the watch from the list. You can set up the watch back to the Fitbit account by following the instructions on this link: How do I set up my Fitbit device?
