Versa Lite will not sync time without manual intervention

Fitbit Versa Lite has stopped syncing time, it loses 10 minutes every 8 hours or so.  I have to manually sync to correct it and lately it often cannot find the device.  This is new behavior in the last month without changing any settings. Losing time started before IOS 14.   I have been on 3 separate chat calls and no recommendation works.  The chat reps are happy to disconnect as soon as they seen the Versa Lite has synced the time.  Frustrating, I am not a novice user.  iPhone X, IOS 14.0.1, latest Fitbit version is installed. Have done the following multiple times - not necessarily in this order.

  • Uninstalled app, rebooted phone, reinstalled app
  • Forget the device in Bluetooth,
  • Remove the device from app settings and reinstalled
  • Only pair the device via the app, not the iPhone bluetooth settings.

The device is faulty, my warranty is about to expire (this is my second Versa Lite, the first one stopped working as well for a different reason and Fitbit replaced it back when customer service was responsive).

I am about to pony up the money for an Apple watch.

I called support and they very helpfully confirmed that my device has a defective Bluetooth receptor and they offered a replacement or a discount on a new watch.

I have the exact same issue. Mine is about a week under 1 year old and has become an expensive bracelet. Doesn’t keep time, some days losing approx 40 mins ! Now constantly showing as device not found on the app. I have removed it and paired it again. All seemed ok then 10 mins later again no device found.

Hey Fitbit - people have been reporting synching problems with these devices for months and with each firmware update the problems seem to be getting worse. I've tried all of the suggestions from other users, from the moderators and online help to no avail. i realize that the fitbit lite is a discontinued model but it seems that the problems are pervasive, across multiple models. I don't understand why my device(s) worked perfectly up until a few months ago. Now I can't even wear my Versa Lite as a watch because it loses time!

The problem with mine was a defective Bluetooth transceiver. No firmware will fix this problem. I had to escalate to get a technician to admit the problem.
