Hello,
I hadn't used swimming tracking in my versa 1 since.last summer, and this summer it worked properly two or thrwe times, and after.that it started shutting down in the middle of a swim.
The first time I thought it was bricked because it didn't turn on again and it didn't seem to charge, but holding the three buttons for a few seconds got it to start and it worked normally again. Ever since it shuts down while tracking my swimming, and same story with the three buttons.
If I swim with it without turning on the swimming tracking, it works fine. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Best,
Carlos

Hi, I have a similar problem with versa lite.
yesterday.
I swam for the first time with her,
she went off on her own.
And I can't turn it on anymore

Have you tried charging it for a few hours and then pressing all the buttons for 10 seconds?
An update on my side. I tried a factory reset and the device turned off for good. It doesn't come up any more.
I can see the serial port in my PC, and if I try to connect to it I see the health check info of the emmc. I can also see it in my USB devices identified as Meson, but it looks like I would need a firmware binary to flash it from network, but I would be surprised if it could be found somewhere.
I will contact support, but won't get my hopes high. All of the people with similar problems I've heard of (I'm out of warranty of course), are told by support to buy a new one at a discount, which I find insulting to say the least.

Finally had a chat with support about this. They were very nice, but informed me the battery in my device is dead. I always took good care of it, never left it charging for longer than it needed, and still the battery died after roughly 3 years. Even though the battery could be replaced by a qualified technician, they don't offer them for sale.
They offered me a decent discount on a new tracker, but I struggle to convince myself of spending more money on a fitbit with the low quality they seem to have in their batteries.
On top of that, it seems only versa 2 supports music storage without a paid subscription to a music streaming service, but after reading reports from versa 2 owners saying they don't seem to be able to do it any more, I asked support and they told me also versa 2 doesn't support it any more, and even though the manual says it does, I haven't been able to find `fitbit connect`, which is the app I used with my versa 1 to do this, and I couldn't find it any more for download, which seems to corroborate the feature is gone.
That alone for me would be a deal breaker, so together with the battery issues, I think I will just go for another brand. There are pretty good alternatives out there.
