Versa Not Accurate

I love the fit of my new Versa!  I have used both the Blaze and the Charge HR over the last 4 years and been extremely happy.  However, I feel my Versa counts way more steps and shows way less miles then other fitbits I have used.  I have already checked my Advanced Settings (making sure it is set to miles, checked the stride length, etc.).  Any other users having the same issue???

Even though I wear my Versa on my "non-dominant" wrist, in the settings, I have selected "dominant" wrist.  This makes it less sensitive to arm movements.

Have you noticed the miles are less?  I can go back and compare from my Blaze and I'm getting more steps and less miles, doesn't make sense.

Honestly I haven't really paid that much attention to miles and comparing what my Charge 2 said compared to my Versa.

I'm experiencing the same thing with my steps. I have it set on my dominant hand and since getting the Versa 2 days ago, its given me at least 2k in steps I didn't do. Since midnight last night to this morning at 6am, it had me at 1300 steps when I may have only walked a couple hundred steps to the bathroom.

@Mariek87. I know it's a pain but take your Versa off when using the bathroom. I have noticed that the motions one goes through to use the facilities, it will rack up 15 to 20ish steps.  This happened with my Charge 2 also, so it's not a Versa problem. Keep in mind, any rhythmic arm motions can and will be detected as steps. There are probably times when you may be walking while carrying something and your Fitbit arm isn't moving, so no steps will be registered, so it probably equals out at the end of the day.  Sorta kinda

@Karizma I did notice the miles being less on my Versa tonight. I took a walk that I know is 3.29 miles, according to Google Maps, and I took that same walk with my Charge 2.  The Charge 2 was spot-on with the miles but the Versa was less.

So I took my Versa off last night after wearing it until 3am and I woke up to this. Elevated heart rate and a crazy ton of steps. All the while its sitting on my counter. Unfortunately I'm taking this thing back. Screenshot_20180504-051150_Fitbit.jpg

Glad to know I am not the only one with less miles and more steps.  Hopefully the update will bring some resolution.

@Karizma I think I know why the mileage is less.  I just walked what is supposed to be 3.29 miles.  My Versa says I walked 2.13 miles.  I started my exercise on the Versa and waited for it to connect.  After starting, during the entire walk, it was constantly "connecting".  Since it was pretty much in a constant state of "connecting" to my phone, it calculates the mileage wrong.  I had "All-Day Sync" and "Always Connected" on.  My pace was off too.  And I have it set to automatically detect my stride.  The first time I took this same route it said I walked 2.76 miles and it didn't even produce a map of my route.  Today it did.  I'm not sure why that happened.

I don't know if the new firmware update will fix the connectivity problem, but for those who have had the update, they are complaining that they no longer receive notifications.  Now I realize with any update, settings can and will get changed, so it's always good to check that before complaining it's not working.  It probably doesn't hurt to do a reset after an update too.  But it shouldn't be something you have to do every day.

Your counter must be really busy at night!

Was your Versa sitting next to your phone that was on vibrate?  I've seen it in other threads that things like that, and fans will cause "ghost" steps!  I hope this helps!

I just bought a Versa, upgrading from a one.  I didn’t think it was accurate but wasn’t sure.  So I walked laps at the high school track to know for sure.  I walked 5 laps before it registered 1 mike.  I’m really disappointed that it’s not accurate.

Yea after buying 2 Versa’s and both being inaccurate with giving me steps
in my sleep, while not being worn, I had to just give up. I’ve always
wanted a Fitbit but to buy such an expensive watch for it not to work was
pretty disheartening. So I bought an Apple Watch instead. Pricier
investment since I didn’t have an iPhone before so I also had to go buy a
phone as well but it was worth it for me.

And riding motorcycle makes my Versa completely crazy. It may count 60 floors climbed, 2000 steps made per 30 minutes motorcycle ride.

Is the Apple Watch an accurate pedometer? I was thinking I either needed to try a Charge or switch to Apple.

I feel like it is. I have a 4 month old and the versa used to count step
when I was rocking her to sleep. I haven’t seen the Apple Watch do that.

Not just the versa did that..

i had a charge 2 that did the same thing..
the problem with the riding a motorcycle. .is on top of the vibration and the movement to break or clutch depending on the arm you wear it.. plus the air pressure the watch is taking
last year. .i put my charge 2 in my pocket and did the same ride. that gave me a lot of extra floor and i had none.. cause it did not get the wind pressure..

i am not sure that is a flaw on the watch.. i think it is just the way it works for the floors..
My wife had the Alta HR and she does get a few extra steps.. but nowhere close as me.. and obviouisly no floors

The Versa is terribly inaccurate with steps.  I had a Galaxy Gear S2 for the last year and a half.  I switched to Versa a week ago.  I take walk breaks at work at least twice a day.  I always walk the same routes.  The Versa counts up to 30% more than my Samsung ever did.  I have confirmed that my Samsung is fairly accurate comparing it to the most expensive accurate pedometers.  I have not yet done that with the Versa but I can almost guarantee it will fair poorly in the accuracy department.

Early this morning I did 2 hours of mountain biking. Prior to this I had a few hundred steps on my Versa.  As I was finishing up my ride, the 10,000 step celebration went off on my watch.  I was like "What?".  Samsung is not only more accurate, it also knows when I am walking, swimming, running or riding my bike automatically.
