Versa and app showing less steps after syncing

I have had this problem a few times now with my Versa Fitbit.  After going for a walk/jog my Versa watch will show 5000-7000+ steps.  When I sync with my app, both the app and the watch show about 2000 steps.

I have been in touch with Help 2x now for the same issue - both times they tell me to factory re-set, uninstall the app, re-install the app, re-set the watch, etc. and nothing seems to fix it.  On Fitbit's end, they can see my account has the 5000-7000+ steps, however, my watch and app both show only 2000.  In both cases Fitbit has sent me a replacement as it is not functioning as designed. 

I just got back from a walk now where my watch showed 5000+ steps.  After syncing it is now showing 2855 steps. Has anyone else had this problem?

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing that both the app and the watch show less steps after you sync your Fitbit Versa. Thank you for taking the time to get in touch with our Support Team and for your troubleshooting efforts. I understand that you've been sent a replacement device previously. In order to investigate the issue please let me know how do you track your exercises? Do you manually log your activities or have any third party app connected to your Fitbit account?
