Versa and pixel2, no call alerts when phone is locked

Just got a Versa and paired it with my Pixel2 XL. All notifications are working correctly, however when the phone is locked the Versa does not vibrate when there is an incoming call. I have tried re-installing firmware, re-synching, re-installing Fitbit App and all iterations of the notification controls, but nothing yet.

Just tried a new control 'Always Vibrate' and that seems to fix the issue for now. This is supposed to be for when the phone is in DND mode or is silent, however it seems that on the pixel2 this needs to be turned on even if the phone is just locked.
