Versa counting too many floors.

Ever since I got my Versa it seems to be grossly over exaggerating my stair count. I had the Charge 2 before the Versa and it was fairly accurate with my stair count, but now it’s more than doubling the number of floors I climb in a day.

Is this a known issue? Has the way in which the Versa calculates stairs climbed change significantly over the Charge 2? I’ve now gone from averaging 15 floors a day to 34.

I've had several Fitbit trackers and have loved them all. My Versa worked well for a year, however it is now reporting that I'm using the stairway  at midnight. For the record, I do not sleepwalk and have been asleep for hours. I believe  that it's now exaggerating my steps as well. Ugh. Makes me feel like I'm cheating on a test. Looking forward to having my Versa fixed.

I've had my Versa a little over 7 months and had no problems with inaccuracy but in the last month it's suddenly reporting around 50% more floors than I would expect given my historical trends (I've had various floor-counting Fitbits for about 3 years now).  Today I ran on a perfectly flat indoor track for about 40 minutes and it reported 3 flights of stairs during that time.  There were no weather changes, gusts of wind or opening doors, just me running in flat circles.  Fitbit needs to fix this.

Good luck please let me know if the fix it. When I reported the issue they
told me to track my driving time and logit as an exercise.

My Versa just started going nuts the last couple of days. Previous to this it seemed to be working ok. I had a One previously and didn't have this behavior and an original bit before that.

I'm sitting here and its showing 32 floors, but maybe I only did like 3 or 4.

Try a reset. You can google how to do that.

I think it is because they wanne sell more expensive models which can do it
right.
We have only paid arround 200 dollar/euro and i guess that is too low to
have a feature like this.

I have owned the Versa, Charge 3 and Ionic. They have all had the same problem and have never been fixed.

Good question. It is a long-standing issue.

I deal with it by ignoring it. Maybe they can’t figure out how to get this feature right.

Nope, they say it is working fine. We're doing it wrong...
no idea how, but that is what they say.

It’s unfortunate reviews never flag this.

Then if they want to sell a more expensive product why putting out a
product that under performs. I don't have another $200 or $300 to purchase
a new device but when I do I will not purchase a Fitbit and I'm letting
everyone know every opportunity I have the problem with the Versa and the
company's total disregard for the consumers.

Yeah well. Thats how commen sence works. But fitbit really think when they are as arrogant as apple they will get as rich as apple. Why solving issues for people who allready paid for the device? Money is in! We don’t have to solve Any issues... we allready got the money. **ahem** out customers!!

I got my Versa when they first came out in April of 2018 and loved it. It worked beautifully. Several months ago, I believe in December, I was notified of a firmware update which I performed. Ever since then it has over calculated my floors to an incredible degree. I was suddenly earning badges like I was climbing the Empire State Building. I ignored it because the number of floors was not really important to me (I live in a 1 story and work at home). Lately however my heart rate is consistently higher than actual by 30 bpm or more and my battery is running down almost daily. I have been less than happy with my Versa since the firmware update and feel like it is time for Fitbit to accept that they have a problem. Then fix it.

I purchased my versa when it came out. I agree the fix is way overdue.

I must say that I am surprised that Fitbit has not addressed this stair
issue at all despite the numerous complaints

Agreed. Unfortunately these issues don’t make the press. Quick review out of the box and onto the next device.

Not that I’m aware of. Call Support and register your issue with a ticket so it’s formally logged. They go through a number of actions like reset etc and even had me test the step count which is off as well. Asked me to fu in a week or 2 but it was all just too time consuming.

I used to have a Fitbit 1 which was very accurate at stairs climbed and
didn't suffer the issues of the Versa.

So Fitbit used to have the right algorithms to do this accurately.

But to me a key issue is the total lack of response or recognition from
Fitbit that they have an issue.

Why would one want to buy any more products from a company that behaves like
an Ostrich? (Head in the sand!).
