Not only does the Versa not sync between the watch and Android phone app, but no notifications for calls, texts, etc... show up on the watch unless I turn on my Phone's GPS.
Fitbit's response of blaming Android is bogus, as my Bluetooth headsets and Bluetooth connection to my car work perfectly without GPS enabled and all notifications come through. The Samsung gear devices don't require GPS to be on, just that the app have rights to the location services.
So what gives? The Versa is at this point an expensive step tracker and cheap digital watch, as I will not waste battery life on having my GPS on all day.

@LBinVegas Welcome! It's nice to have you on board!
Thank you for sharing your input about GPS being required for this. As Support and our help article mention, this is required by Google since Android 6 still we appreciate your feedback about this.
Let me know how it goes.
