I have tried to download recent updates and after hours it fails .I've checked wifi,deleted and installed the app. The watch is worthless without the updates.

@dave068 welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm happy to assist you with your Fitbit Versa since the firmware update can't be completed even though you've re-installed the Fitbit app.
I'd like you to try the troubleshooting steps that are listed in this help article. After this, run the firmware update again and see if it gets completed.
