Versa is counting steps during Bike rides. Can anyone tell if this is something you can switch of?

But it sounds as though others want it to not count steps for any workouts
except stepping. Mine does not do what you are saying. I bike 100 miles a
week, it only gives me a certain amount of steps per mile, no where near
what you are saying. I have a Versa. I do not add a workout after I am done
working, that does not make sense to me, as after I am done riding my 20 or
so miles it shows I was active for 1hr 20 minutes, etc. I use Map My Ride
for my biking. After I sync there are no additional steps noted. And every
time I figure out my steps after bike rides it equals 400-450 steps per
mile.

Same with lifting weights. If I am squatting down with my kettle bell and
then jump up lifting the weight, that should definitely count as a step. It
is an activity.

Then count yourself lucky.
The counting steps while biking is a well known issue that started with the Alta and has persisted with every model since.
An issue that Fitbit has not fixed.
There are some third party apps that provide a workaround. I’m done with this company.
The Amazefit Stratos has none of these issues and ten times the functionality including built in GPS and VO2 for less money.

I am having the same issue!!   I go for a bike ride and my Versa records from 3,000 to 8,000 steps depending on how long of a ride I go on.

It should not do this!!!

It's definitely a big problem counting steps while cycling. It makes no sense at all. The Blaze did not do that but the Versa does.  And when looking at my Fitbit Dashboard it's plain to see!

I took a 1:07 hour bike ride with 48 mins peak and 16 min Cardio with 4 min fat burned

Lower down it states:

Impact

+5,025 of 11,072 steps taken!!!!!

I'm about ready to become a former Fitbit fan,

First off is just a Fitbit... it’s not going to be as accurate as you think,, **ahem**... it’s just a way to help someone get an ideal of what they are doing. Everyones body is different and burns calories definitely... 🥴

Not sure how that's cheating...  It's exercise and if it's automatically converting biking activity to steps, why is that cheating?  For our company challenges, we have to count STEPS and are no longer allowed to manually enter converted steps or any steps other than what is synced by our fitbit, so it's only right that if we bike rather than walk to work or the grocery, we are credited with the steps - the POINT is activity, right?

I don't get steps for driving.  You likely need to tighten your band so it's not flopping around on your wrist, put shocks on your vehicle, or get someone to grade the road.  Heck - I drive 80 miles round trip to work - and no steps at all except those getting to and from the vehicle.  Or maybe you need to set the sensitivity?  I know that could be done on the Charge - haven't checked to see if my Versa has that feature.  Mine is SO accurate.  I've checked the number, walked while counting my steps, checked the number, and it's exact.

Harmony59, I am a cyclist and a walker. When I cycle, I want it to count my
cycling activity which I am very active on---10 to 12 miles a day going
fast. I do not want to get off my bike at the end of ride and find that I
have walked 3,000 + steps. I did not walk. I was riding my bike.

I would not call logging steps while cycling cheating but it certainly is
not accurate. And the accuracy of activity is the reason I have a Fitbit.

By the way, my previous Fitbit Blaze did not count steps when cycling.

I love that the Versa logs steps when cycling as all of us compete with steps

My opinion is, it is cheating. I've seen a huge difference between riding on streets, and riding on a lime stone trail. Thousands more steps on the bumpy trail. That means I can get my 10,000 minimum steps for a day, with very little actual steps. I'll have the phone along in a saddle bag for connected GPS  At the end of a ride, I could have a couple hundred steps for the day in Samsung health app, and 7000 steps in Fitbit. Lol
