Versa lite decreasing step count

I just got a brand new Versa Lite after my Versa screen died suddenly this week. It arrived today, I installed it and did the firmware update I was prompted to do. Then, I continued to watch as my steps decreased every single time I synced.

WHAT??? I had 19,000 steps, and it went down to 17,857. Then, I worked back up to 18,500, and it synced back down to 17,857. What is going on? Why do I have the worst luck with Fitbit? This is my last attempt before I switch over to Garmin...

I've had multiple Fitbits over the last 6 years. The Blaze and Versa are a great concept, but I'm disappointed with how many issues I've had. I used the 40% off coupon since my screen died after the warranty, and just got the Versa Lite. Not even 5 hours in, I already want to take a hammer to it.

I shut it down, factory reset it, updated the app, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, installed the firmware update. I've done it all.

Any ideas as to why my step count would decrease??
