Hi Marco,
I have had my Fitbit Versa since June 3rd, and up until today it has worked fine. Today I have noticed that it has stopped counting floors. I’ve done five flights of stairs today and my count is still at zero. These are flights of stairs I go up every day, and usually my Versa counts them no problem. I have checked the hole in the bottom left corner and see no issues, and it is not blocked. Could you please assist me in figuring out what is wrong?
Also, I think a helpful change would be to make it so you can manually input flights of stairs, for the times that your Fitbit misses a flight of stairs - it would prevent a lot of irritation for a lot of people as they can then rectify the problem themselves.
Thanks,
Samantha

I like the idea of manually adding the flights of steps that were missed, excellent idea!! Today my flights jumped from 6 to 30 for no discernable reason whatsoever? I am at a complete loss to explain this discrepancy...Weird!!

I am having the same problem. I just went up and two more flights and it still says "1" flight. I cleaned the little hole in the back, went back up the stairs, and still only one flight. I know that I have done at least 6 this morning. This problem is not unique to the Versa. I had the same problem with two previous models of Fitbit. Now that I have the Versa Special Edition, I thought at last it would be solved. Reading about people getting both too many and too few flights, should clue Fitbit that this erratic stair flight count requires either a component or software upgrade.

I also found that my stair counter wasn't working on my new Versa, which was very disappointing. I checked this forum and read about 'raising your hand' at the top of the stairs, and it worked! I went downstairs and then back up, but this time didn't raise my hand, and to my surprise just raising my hand one time seemed to 'kickstart' the altimeter so it has been working.

So my Versa is completely off about stairs. It either counts stairs when I haven't gone up any, or it fails to count the ones I do go up. If it's measuring changes in altitude, does that mean if you go up in an elevator you will credit for doing stairs. It's a really dumb way to measure stair climbing as an exercise.
This needs to be addressed and changed, so that it is more based in the reality of stair climbing as an activity.

I work in an office building on the Third Floor & always take the stairs. So, this is indoor (no wind). I go up 4 flights of stairs & my Versa counted all four until this past week, and now it only counts two. I'll try the "final-step-armswing" tomorrow & see if that helps.
Understanding the use of the altimeter helps: I've also experieced being outdoors & suddenly having 25 floors logged! Miraculous!!! 🙂

I have problems with the stairs too but the swimming has worked well since I set the length of my pool and manually start the lap counting from the exercise screen.

Versa doesn’t count the stairs in my two-story house (it’s actually three stories, if I count the basement) because the distance between floors doesn’t meet their criteria (10’). It sometimes counts the hill in my backyard though. <g>
I can look at my log and match the days I’ve hit ten flights with the days I’ve received a low battery message for the Versa – those are the days I’ve worn my Blaze while the Versa’s charging.

My Versa is missing floors.
UPDATE 11/24/2018: All bets are off. I can't find any way to consistently convince my Versa to cooperate counting my floors. <sigh>
While up until a few days ago my Versa seemed to accurately record my flights of stairs, I haven't kept an eagle eye on this lately. Lately, my Versa has credited me with floors, but not consistently accurately. I do know it accurately credited me with floors in a sports stadium last week.
(I updated all of my software 5 days ago - coincidence?)
Two days ago, I noticed I was up and down the stairs at least 4 times and it credited me with 1 floor.
Yesterday, I was up and down the stairs at least 3 times and it credited me with 1 floor.
Today, before posting this, I've been up and down the stairs twice, and it's credited me once.
Just now as I'm experimenting:
After several times going up the stairs as usual, and as usual plus raising my arm at the top - no floors are consistently recorded.
When I go up the stairs while exaggerating swinging my arms - 1 floor is recorded. I've repeated this 3 times, and have consistently been credited 3 floors.
So, I find a relationship between exaggerating my arm swing and recorded floors.
I'll keep after this, and report in a few days.
Some particulars:
My house has 8 feet between floors.
13 step count from the first step off of the floor (1 step) to the landing (13 steps)
I most often walk down a flight before I walk back up the flight
My Versa battery was at 78% when I began experimenting today
All software is up to date:

Floors counted by fitbit Sunday 4 which is correct, Monday 6 which is correct, Tuesday 10 which is correct, Wednesday 4, which should be 7, Thursday 6, which is correct, Friday so far 1 and it should be 4, counted the last hour only

I have 8' ceilings and 1' between my downstairs ceiling and my upstairs floor. Since that is less than 10', does that mean that my Fitbit Versa will never count my stairs? I also have a landing in the middle of the flight.

The ceilings and flight of stairs in my house exactly like yours, Notaseasy. In my experience, my Versa doesn't "never" count my floors, it's just very inconsistent. Some days I get credit for every floor, other days I get credit for maybe 3 out of 10, or 2 out of 7, or... you get the idea. I've never had a zero day - I always get credit for at least 1 or 2 I've earned regardless of how many I've actually climbed. Resetting both my Versa and my app seems to ultimately NOT change the inconsistency.

I have to agree. I lost my Blaze seven days ago, and since I was intentionally taking the stairs at work I was averaging between 60 and 100 flights per week. Now, with this Versa, I have a grand total of 2. I’m am seriously considering taking it back to the store and searching for a used Blaze!!!

Have yet to find a thread where this has been resolved. Any mods around? Clearly with so many similar reports it is an actual issue, not user error, ceiling height, etc!

Went to a big box store where the exit area changes in air pressure. It blew an additional 37 floors into my floor count for the day. Makes up for some of the lost floors, but not in a good way!

This morning I took the stairs from -1 to 1st floor. It counted two floors on my FitBit.
A little later, I took the stairs from first floor to the third floor ( and again an hour later ). Each floor has about 20 stairs, so it should definitely have counted, but it didn't. I am still on two floors...

Went up 2 flights of stairs (15 steps per floor) without stopping but only counts it as 1 floor?
